Default How many forum members own more than ONE Porsche?

I've been giving serious thought to picking up another Porsche...maybe a higher mileage '95 or '96 993 coupe or a Boxster as a daily driver since prices seem to run under $30k for such a car. I love driving my C4S but with under 40K miles and greater collector potential I still treat her as a garage queen... driving her under 100 miles/week. I'll still have my Dodge Hemi Ram for back-up.

I've read plenty of threads where normal maintenance doesn't seem to be much, if any, higher than other premium (NOT exotic) imports. Does anyone else here have two or more Porsche's? Does this sound feasible or is this a folly?

I have a '97 C2S with 50K and a '90 964 Cab with 66K. Sold my 928 GTS with 33K last year. Man, I wish I never did.

With only a three car garage, my daily driver '96 Infiniti Q45 sits outside.
Anyhow, how many Porsches is really enough???

I'll chime in as the third one to own a 993 and 914. My Dad bought the 914 new more than 30 years ago, and I took my date to the high school prom in it, so I could never sell it. Now I don't think I could sell the 993 either.

Must...get....bigger... garage.

I owned 2 993's and a 911 for a fleeting moment in time. My only advice to you is to buy different models, if you are truly a porsche nut.

There is one exception to my rule (which I followed for a bit) in that one 993 was a track car. When I bought my "new" track car, I had 2 993's lying around. Sort of a waste.

If I were you, I would seriously consider different models. These are great cars (all models). Having the ability to experience different feels is awesome. Go for it. Just mix it up a bit.

I am sad to say that I am down to one. I have owned as many as three at once. A '94 3.6 Turbo, an '84 Euro 911 and a 928S. Oh well.... Maybe later.

ZCat3, you should chime in here with your collection...

I also had two, a 1990 964 C2 Cab to go along with my C4S. However, being the **** person that I was (am), they were both modded and would have ended up costing me two arms and two legs. Plus, I didn't want to daily drive either because I was worried about this and that!

So I sold the 964 and the proceeds have already been spent on the C4S!

I have 2 993's. One is a track car (the coupe) and the other one is the garage queen ( the cabrio). Short of doing the same thinking as you If I needed a daily driver I would have gotten another high milaege Porsche most likely a 964 or a 993 coupe... My track car is a high milaege car ( over 80K now) and with the sort of abuse that it has gotten its still bullet proof...

Currently have a 90 C2 Cab and am in the process of looking for a 993 Coupe. The Cab will become a sunny day, top down driver (actually it already is, with the exception of this weekends DE event at Watkins Glen) where as the 993 will be for DE events and colder weather drives.

i had two at one time.
i wouldn't buy a 2nd porsche to make one of them a garage queen. tehy are meant to be driven.
as much as i love 993's they are not really collectables. so drive them. 100 miles/week, you are kidding. i put 300 miles on mine each weekend. that's just on the weekends!

Have two Porsches in garage.
993 Targa for summer cruising and now in storage. Only had 23000 KM on it so maintenance is very minimal, just annual oil and other fluid changes.
Plan to use a lot of the Cayenne S as family and all weather car (truck), I think and hope that the maintenance schedule of these water cooled V8 is easier on the wallet.

Default Boxster and 993TT

I have a 2000 Boxster Tip as a daily driver and a 1996 993TT as weekend fun car. I agree with Mark's advice that it's a good idea to have different models, as the difference makes you appreciate each car for its unique, and different character. I've driven both at DEs, and boy do they perform differently. Like my children, I can't pick a favorite; love 'em both.
