I went from a boxster to a 993. I can't fathom why anyone would want to do the opposite ;-) Unless you HAVE to have a drop top and enjoy having less horsepower. I found the boxster vicious in the wet too... if you get one, get PSM !

I am currently buying (today actually) a 944NA as my daily "beater" car, as I will have a 78 mile commute starting on Monday. Don't want to put those miles on the 993. I also plan on driving the snot out of it on the track. I was having difficulty beating up my 993 on the track. Always seemed to come home with new chips, dirt (from OTE's) and other damage from track days.

The 993 will be my fun weekend toy, road trip car etc...

I have a 1992 C2Turbo and a 1997 993 Coupe. I drive one or the other nearly every day. I like them both, but as a daily driver the 993 is better, so it gets more mileage. If the right '87-'89 coupe came along at the right place, I'd make it three.

When I had the 964 C4, I was also running a Carrera 3.2 for a while. Now I am absolutely happy with the 993, but certainly wouldnt mind adding a Ferrari 355 into the equation.

After having a Boxster and a Boxster S, compared to the 993 the handling is more predictable. I can toss the Boxster around and it gives me better feedback; I have more confidence behind the wheel in the S over the 993.

The S is comparable in performance to the heavier 993. Don't get me wrong...I -love- my 993...it's a blast to drive. The 993 also gets more looks; reminds me of when I got my first Boxster in early '99...everyone would stare. Now, no one will give Boxsters a second look as they are all over Austin...but 993's with Turbo S aero are quite rare and it always turns heads.

'01 Boxster S
'98 Carrera S
'70 911 S

(Previous Porsches: '85 911 Cab; '73 911E, '99 Boxster, '86 944 Turbo, '87 944 Turbo)

I have 2 now. I have had a 951 since 1989 and just got my dream car, a 96 993TT arena red. The 951 is an 86 and has been modded. I think I'll primarily DE it and enjoy the 993 on the street as best I can I have an Audi S4 as my bad weather babe

Hi... My name is Mike.... (your part: "Hi Mike") And I'm a Porshaddict.

I have a serious weakness, as you can see below. I take the opposite approach to variety, I'd like to complete the 993 hat trick and get a Cupcar.

Before the S2 track car we had a Boxster with Tip, which was ostensibly my wife and kids'. Surprisingly, they didn't drive it much. Sold it , and bought the race car.

Oh yeah, I still have "right of first refusal" on my first p-car, an '87 951.

So many Porsches, so little garage space.

I've had 7 so far from a '73 911T to a 356C and later a Boxster S. Currently we have my wife's '87 911 Cab and my '97 993 Coupe.

Everything is dependent on what you will be doing with the car as to which one to get. If you want a refined, nice handling car go for the Boxster. I really enjoyed the two that I had but I came back to the 911 after a couple years. A Boxster ain't no 911.

And a 911 is no Boxster...nice to have a choice.
