Do you own multiple 911's (or other sports cars)?
Several posters in the 911/993 string indicated that they own(ed) more than one 911 at a time, or own more than one sports car.
What's the usage pattern on the cars (i.e., is the 993 is a daily driver, and the 3.2 Carrera is occasional weekends only)?
I would think that, unless one car was a convertible and one was a coupe, or one was a race/DE car and one was a "street" car (and hence they served different purposes), you would eventually end up developing a favorite and use that car pretty much exclusively. (Owning only one 911, I can't comment from personal experience).
Anyone care to share their experiences?

I am one of those people....'88 Club Sport, which has kind of turned into a garage queen and a '97 c4s that is my daily driver. I have always liked unique and low production numbers and after doing a ton of research on the Club Sport, I bought it with the intention of splitting time (track and commuting) with my then '91 e30 M3.
To make a long story short, the Club Sport is NOT a car to drive every day. My commute is a short one, but with no a/c, sunroof and sunvisor I soon found myself only taking it out on weekends. When I took to an autocross, everyone thought I was crazy since the car only had 7k miles (now it's 9k) I DO know Porsche's are meant to drive and that's why I went to the opposite end of the spectrum and bought what most Porschephiles consider a "high mileage" c4s. It was one of those friend of a friend situations on the c4s and an opportunity I couldn't pass up.
I do go through the daily internal termoil and guilt for NOT driving the CS enough. I know it's crazy to tie up the $$ but at the end of the day I enjoy the satisfaction of having 2 nice Porsches vs. 1 expensive sedan.

I have a 97 993S and a 2000 Boxster. The 993 is my daily driver and track car while the Boxster is for beautiful days, weekend drives, and when the 993 is being serviced.

Jen owns a 1968 911L - really in terrific condition. Just finished getting the carbs tuned on that....

Seriously, I've been eyeballing the GHL cat/header/heater system since before it was put on the market. C.A.R.B. approval has been pending for over a year now--I need C.A.R.B. approval here in California. It will be interesting to hear how the system works out for you. The only (slight) concern I have with the system is the amount of heat coming out of the heater boxes. They're smaller than my 964's, but do look to be about the same size as the 993's.
Simultaneous 911 ownership? I owned my first 911, a '66, in parallel with an '84 Carrera for about 2 years, then in parallel with my '91 for about 5 years. I sold the '66 after becoming a homeowner. To be honest, one too many money pits, and something had to give.
I do have a Miata (okay, it's the wife's car) that I drive to work a few days a week. Outside of that, the 911 is what I drive on a daily basis.

In general: On Monday thru Thurs drive Audi A-6 2.7T; Friday - Sunday drive P car. One P car must live off site, so I trade them about every two weeks. When I bought the 993TT I thought I was going to sell the Boxster, but decided I like the Boxster too much, life is too short, etc., so I kept it. I've done DEs in both cars. If I could only have one P car, I'd keep the Boxster, as it's a blast to drive, and easier to have fun in the city, better HVAC. As to the 993TT, well, it's a Turbo, nuff said.

My 993 for weekend/nice weather/DE's and my 1998 M3 for city driving, people carrying, supermarket runs etc as its an automatic and very convenient in town.
I'm fixing though to get a 968 or 964 or 993 for DE/club racing next year! As for my present 993 she is going to turn into a drop down/nice weather/concours event queen.

97 993tt (35k miles, that's right, Jack )
Which one's the daily driver? By the miles I put on them, you can basically consider them all compared to how many miles people put in their "daily driver." I'm just blessed to be able to enjoy these cars. For winter I primarily drive the 993 na with snow tires. I just get too attached to my cars. If I could only comfortably afford the monthly, I'd keep the 96 993tt as well, but there has to be some limit to this insanity. But if insanity is having an everlasting grin driving these cars, then call me a fool!
