Need help with MY 02 Wheels & Ride Height
Anyone with MY 02 wheels.....did you change the springs size or use stock height?
If you lowered, by how much.
If lowered is the ride the same or much stiffer.
My car is almost done with the restoration, just fitted the My 02 wheels and looks a little funny with much more wheel well gap. I had new bilsteins installed with stock springs because I wanted the stock ride, not race car stiff.
I never measured the stock wheels, I have Cup Wheels..for get the size, but they looked like the same rolling diameter just by eyeball.

wow, that is really riding high. go with the M033s if you want a more compliant ride w/ lower stance.

This explains it pretty well

The M030 is a sport suspension. The M030 springs will make the ride lower and sportier while the M033 springs will lower the car the same amount but it will remain comfortable just like the stock springs".

It's not your MY 02's which are the standard diameter (and beautiful, light weight wheels). My guess is that you either have the wrong springs, or they're not installed correctly. Dayem that's sitting high.

The B6 has extra thread on the collar for height adjustment. The B8 has less thread on the collar with a shorter piston stroke.
Either B8 or B6 will work with ROW M030 springs.
Looking at the picture of your car. Are you missing the interior or other heavy items? The car might come down a bit when some heavy items are back in.
Maybe you should wait to see how it all settles before buying new springs.

"The Bilstein B8 shocks have the same damping as the Bilstein B6 but the stroke of the pistons is 20mm shorter. Due to the shorter rebound, it makes the Bilstein B8 an excellent match for the use with RoW M030 and M033 spring as it eliminates the "floating spring" issue which you will have when you combine B6 and M033 springs."
Just make sure your bottom spring perch on the B6 shock is threaded up tight against the spring when installed, so you don't get the spring float mentioned in Carnewals quote. The B8 with the shorter stroke solves this with the shorter stroke. Thats why they say the B8 is a better match. But B6 or B8 will work with ROW M030 springs.

For it were me, id keep the shocks you have but switch to M033 springs. The result should give it the lower ride height of the European models without the "race car stiff" ride you wish to avoid.

A KT alignment and corner balance are in order as well.

The whole b8 shock is shorter than a b6, it is usually used when you want the car as low as possible
close to this low
there are also Us springs and RoW springs
unless you want the car very low i'd use b6 and RoW M030 or for a softer ride RoW M033
lastly your car needs a complete suspension setup ,as it is now it is too high and I can see that the rear kt is set to give a very fast twitchy acting rear, get a corner balance and proper alignment including kt after the suspension work is done.
