Gav,
I received your PM. I'll try and give you a call tomorrow about this.
If you've seem my RL posts, you'll see that I've completely taken apart and rebuilt this tops - both shade and glass. They are a little tricky, but not impossible to learn how to repair.
Unfortunately, Porsche's design was quite ingenious but also very complicated. Furthermore, many of the parts can bend or break, which makes these tops a continual project. I can tell you which parts tend to fail and what to look for.

Thanks so much. The pictures help a lot. Measurements of those tabs & how the relate to the piece would be great. I'm sure I can fabricate/3D print something that would work.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Gav - let me know if this does it so I can put the car back together.
Here is a drawing of the measurements and corresponding photos. If I didn't give a measurement somewhere it's because things are centered, and the placement should be obvious.
The plastic slides (for lack of a better term) are attached to the plastic interior trim rails with one rivet and two torx screws each. They rest on platforms molded into the plastic interior trim rails that are visible in the pictures. The holes from the torx screws should still be in your interior trim rails and can serve as a guide for placement.
Ultimately, when you remove/attach the trim piece you must slide it back/forward until it can disengage from the channel in the aluminum roof rail. The channel has some sections removed from it so the plastic slide can safely disengage. I tried to take a pic of it as well.
Drawing of plastic slide.
Side view of slide - corresponds to side view of drawing.
Front slide from left side trim piece. Top of pic points toward front of car.
Rear slide from left side trim piece. Top of pic points toward front of car.
Aluminum roof rail with channel and channel cut out visible. When reattaching, the plastic slide must be inserted at this cut out area then slid forward to secure it.

No problem! Be sure to share what you come up with. These things are not available separately, so some of us Targa owners may want to have some printed as spares.

The glass is held in alignment by the axel plates and is therefore can be adjusted by loosening and moving and then retightening the axel plates. The rear is adjusted with rear axel plates (see pic #1). The front is adjusted with the front axle plates (see pic #2).

Was just reading a Targa TSB and noticed that the plastic slides on the interior trim pieces are available separately! Assuming my interpretation of the TSB is correct, they are part number 993 562 733 00.
Gav, they're < $16 according to Sunset's website right now.

That is awesome, I am confirming with Sunset that they have the part, I put the number in on the website and it called it something different. If that is the case -- wow. Otherwise, I was having a CAD drawing done per the dimensions above (with some minor modifications) and planned to see about getting some made.

Wow! Thanks mpruden, I got all excited & immediately searched & found the same thing as will007. When I put the part number in, it is called "CABRIO SOUND ABSORBE". I'll try to confirm with Sunset.
I was able to make some pieces myself that work beautifully in the front, but for the life of me, I could not get them to work on either side in the back.
Hopefully this pans out, Thanks for the heads up!

I wouldn't worry too much about the part description. I've seen so many nonsensical part names that I pretty much ignore them.
Be sure to update this thread with your findings!

Got a reply from Sunset and while they did not clarify the naming of the part, did say they are available from Germany 2-4 week lead time. I have put in an order for 6 (only have one on my rails, will replace that and have 2 as spares).
When they arrive will add to this thread (with photo). Also ordered a few other parts that were mentioned in the TSB article as well -- foam blocks, sunshade pin (updated).

I also just placed an order after talking to one of the guys there at Sunset.
I can't believe I overlooked this in the TSB. I know I read that thing 10 times looking for solutions to other problems!
