Question Michelin Pilot Super Sport - sizing and availability help for WB 993

I'm looking for a intermediate track tire for HPDE and also for general use in summer. I have used Michelin Pilot SuperSport on other cars and really like the tire. However, I'm having difficulty figuring out sizing to fit my 993 C2S.

OEM sizing is 225/40/18 front and 285/30/18.

Would MPSS 225/40/18 front and 275/35/18 work? Would the car remain balanced? (I can't seem to find rear tire size to match OEM).

Any other suggestions that will fit the car?

Thx in advance.

I'd look at the Bridgestone RE-11, click on "read all reviews" and filter for Porsche owner's opinions of using the tire.

The RE-71R is stickier but looks like it wears out very fast.

I wanted to try the MPSS so I purchased 235/40 & 275/35 for my C4S. I've yet to put more than 1k street kms on them so I cannot comment on track use.
It's a slightly taller option than factory which will have a slight effect on gearing.

IMO they are great tires but there are some really good options in the factory sizes and the factory sizes "fit" the car better.

Interesting combination. If the C4S tire specs are the same as C2S, you went with a wider tire in front and narrower tire in back than OEM.

How did the car handle? I would guess that it would dial out understeer (maybe too much and made the car tail happy?)

Yes, I am waiting to see how this combination behaves at autocross.
I also had to maintain the R/F dia ratio, especially with power going to all 4 wheels.

Were these mounted on stock techno wheels?

I just changed out wheels on my 98 C2S. The wheels I removed have Michelin Super Sport A/S Plus tires on them with less than 1000 miles. I ran the car at one AX with these tires and they were extremely sticky. Never lost the rear of the car. They are 225/40/18 fronts and 285/30/18 rears. The sizing made the car feel extremely balanced, so I'm not certain what you will feel dropping rear tire width.

If you have an interest in my tires, PM me and we can work out pricing to satisfy you. The fronts show no measurable wear. The rears are at 95% remaining tread. I just need to get them out of my garage.

If you really want the Super Sport, this is your best sizing on 18" They are only .2" off of one another in overall diameter, and only .5" taller than stock - that's only about 10-15 revs per mile less.

Interesting. Would appreciate after you autocross if you report back with your thoughts.

I had MPSS on the 2011 Spyder and loved them for street use. For autocross you should like them, but for track there are better options (of course with tradeoffs for street use).

I have been waiting for MPSS in OEM size for the C4S for awhile...

I fall under the 99% / 1%.......the 1% being track miles. I'll provide feedback, but it will hold a lot less weight than many of the guys here with more track experience.

I enjoyed the MPSS on a GT3 and decided to find a combo that fit my C4S. I'm more of an engineer that likes to tinker than a track rat.

I am patiently waiting for the Michelin Supersports in 235/40/18 and 295/30/18 for the TechArt Formula wheels I recently purchased. In the meantime I picked up a used set of 996 hollow twists that came with some low mileage Michelin Supersports. The whole package was just $1,200. It's like buying used tires, and getting a nice set of used wheels for free.

I'm so envious of that purchase Foxman. I wish I had seen the price drop before you
