Is it?

What would a turbo bumper with bumperette delete ($2K?), three spoke steering wheel ($750), painted HB sport seats ($750 if you already have the seats), proper ride height (already done by 130K miles by almost all owners), turbo scoops ($500?) cost?

That's about $4K-$5K-ish. This car is overpriced by far more than that.

Nice car, but asking $63K for this car is crazy. Rudy may be nice, and I'm sure he'd be the first to admit that all the mods on his cars are things he learned here; anyone can do them, and many if not most RL members do.

It's a nice 130K mile NB for sure. With a few thousand of tasty mods. Still doesn't add up to any where near $63K tho, IMHO

Hmmm, I'm also guessing Rudy sold it for far less

Well like you always say , that's just asking price right ? Also I paid $6500 for the seats because they sure did come with the car , try finding a classic grey OEM 3 spoke steering wheel for $750 and I will buy them all from you for $1200 all day long , the car has front and rear bumperrette delete , wide ovals , painted calipers , fresh turbo twist wheels , that right there alone is $10k so you about $6k off right there ..
I guess we let the market speak for itself and not from people that don't buy $hit like yourself , I'm sure you are a nice guy as well but we will let the market speak and of course I sold it for less , you don't think the dealer bought it to loose $ 😂😂😂😂😂

Yeah, the $6K I'm "off" is if one doesn't buy a car that has Sports Seats. Since you've acquired many I'm sure you realize many cars already have them. Marble grey is hard to find as very few folks ordered that color from the factory I suppose.

As for the rest, as you said, the market will speak. Guess we will find out of "Rudyfying" a car adds $20K to a car with only $10K of mods

Looking at it from an owner's perspective rather than a buyer, it looks to be a good to very good value given all the parts, labor and love that went into it, especially considering the rare color and it's just an asking price. Further, I fail to understand those who believe no money should be made by the dealer... I'm sure the opportunity was there to buy it before the dealer did... Finally, I get that it wasn't actually advertised here, but what happened to the 'don't poop on the for sale thread' rule?

You obviously haven't been to the RL For Sale Section. As you said, this isn't a For Sale thread, and Rennlist has no such rule

Hey, as I said, I hope this dude gets anywhere near $63K for this car.

Rudy, did you bore this car out to 3.8L, re-gear the tranny, rebuild the top-end of the engine or anything like that in the time you owned it?

If so, I stand corrected.

This car is listed on the website of Annex Houston, a dealer in Houston. It is listed as a consignment vehicle. Who owns the car; you, the dealer or a 3rd party?

For your information I don't own the car any longer 🙄 they do ! I don't know why they listed it as a consignment 🤔 you will have to ask them why they did that if you need to know that answer 👍🏼 and you think I need a dealer to help me sell a car? 😂😂😂😂 I can sell them on my own just like you do 😀

Not true. There's a polar silver/black C4 on Pelican with hardback seats. It's priced quite well, despite the Carfax issues and other problems.

I, too, think $63,000 for a 130,000 mile car seems to be a high price. The value goes up if 100% of the paint is original, but how much it goes up is debatable and will ultimately be determined by the market.

Here's another good data point: Intersport has a bone-stock, 62,000 mile (that's a whopping 68,000 miles fewer than Rudy's car) iris blue/grey car for $60,000, and it has sat for over two and a half months. Maybe it's been wrecked, maybe not. Haven't seen it.

Man, regrettably, that rule appears to be long-dead. Since the owner didn't post it here, anyone and everyone can crap on the price, condition, etc. as they see fit. Hell, as GBD (and RodKnock in other threads) said, the Member-to-Member Classifieds and Vehicle Marketplace forums are arenas where people can take potshots at a seller's price, items, etc. with little moderation. No matter what I think of the price, I don't think it's right to disparage a seller's ad. I don't believe I've ever done so in all of my time here.

I thought it was quite clear that Rudy sold the car and that he no longer owns it.

Wow , that snowballed. The internet is such an odd place because seemingly innocent questions can get blown way out. The intent of my question was to start a conversation about these cars and their price points in general. But I suppose I should have picked a different thread to get into that. I certainly don't want to crap on anyone's sale and I apologize for stimulating negative comments.

IMO, you did nothing wrong since the seller did not start this thread; you posted a valid price discussion statement.

I didn't say $63,000, but this car will easily fetch $55,000 to $60,000 from a discerning buyer. You ascribe too low a value for the bits. Sport seats don't just drop out of the sky so you can't say "$750 if you already have the seats"... Those seats sell regularly for $6,500, and frankly I'm surprised they didn't get pulled out and sold. Add $1,500 value for PSS9's (not every car has them), $750 for the brakes (refurb and powder coat) $500 for the seat belts, $3,000 for turbo bumper, turbo scoops and bumperette deletes (front and rear, the guy has class). $1,000 for the 3 spoke, $1,000 for Fister II's, $500 for short shifter and gauge rings, and $500 for wide ovals. That's almost $15,000 of bits. And best of all, all the bits have been sourced and the work is done!

I recently sold my 1995 black C4 with 130,000 for $43,000. Wide ovals, Fister III's, and MO30 Bilsteins, but that's where the similarities end. The car ran beautifully, but she was ready for a respray. If you net out $3,000 for overlapping bits, there's still $12,000 of extra goodies on Rudy's car. And it's a rare color with properly restored paint. Add another $4,000 back for that rare and beautiful color and that's $16,000 more value than my $43,000 C4. And my C4 was worth $45,000, I was motivated to sell like Rudy probably was. So yes, I really think this car is worth $55,000 to $60,000.

I'll take low miles and original paint over mods all day, every day, given similar prices. And I'm not looking for a garage queen/collector car; I just want a relatively low miles car.

My $0.02.

$63K is the asking price. Some 993s already come with sports seats. Mine did.

As for your prices, I paid $600 for my mint 996 steering wheel not $1000, $700 for my new Fisters not $1000, etc., so prices may vary. Also, any discerning buyer will already know that conventional wisdom holds that mods pay back pennies on the dollar, so....

We can sit here and speculate all day, and no one knows what this car will fetch. However, one thing we can all agree on, is the market will dictate the final selling price and speak as to whether this car is priced too high. Myself and a few others think so, you and a few others might think not.

The best part is, a little time will decide who is ultimately correct
