Default C4S weight savings

Just got a corner balance and 4 wheel alignment and now I know my car weighs 3140 lbs. Flat 6 says 3197 lbs. I guess I must have lost the 57 lbs between the RSR's and HRE's. Now if only I can get myself down from 163 lbs to 100 lbs.

Unless you have removed other equipment from your car, I am pretty sure those scales were off. There is no way a set of mufflers and wheels can shave that much weight. In fact, the factory stated 3197 lbs is based on a bare bones ROW C4S which does not have some of the standard equipment US cars have. FWIW, my car weighed 3264 lbs before the switch to the hollow spoke wheels.

Hi Viken, I can't think of anything else, maybe the PSS9's make a difference? Aluminum trim?

I had the corner balance done by Westend Alignment and Darin has a really good rep.

Maybe I've lost some weight!

Did you put helium in the tires?
I find it hard to believe that your C4S is so swelt! It seems everyone else always is so much thinner than me! My 'husky' C4S weights about 3250# with the belt let out to the last notch.

Mine came in at 3150 without driver. Quite a bit more with, but I'm starting the South Beach Diet next week, I swear.

Spare, tools and mats removed were about 40 lbs, light rims were another 35 according to wheelweights.net, and maxflos + PSS-9's + engine tray about another 25.

That brings it to about 3250 stock, which supports Viken's number for my lightly optioned car.

Empty or full tank can also make a sizeable difference!

Fuel is heavy and weighs almost 8 1/2 # per gallon. So a full tank of 17 gallons of Chevron Supreme with Techron comes in at about about 140#

Something to consider.....

Skytop is right.

I'm guessing you didn't have full tank?

Factory weight is with full tank of gas which is about 116 lbs.

Well, is it usual to weigh with a full/half-full/empty tank?

I'm glad that Skytop mentioned the weight of a full tank "WITH TECHRON". So, I can deduct a few pico ounces if I fill her with Union?

FYI, my weights above were with 1/2 tank Chevron 91 octane, WITH Techron, oil at mid-point of stick, 1/2 tank washer fluid, and full coolant tank.

Pads and rotors both need replacing though, so there's a some saved weight too.

From my corner balance numbers, my cab with 1/2 tank and stock wheels/tires, RSR muffler, Pss9/m030 bars and strut brace weight just a little over 3000lb. I thought something wasn't right, a little too light for a cab.

I had less than a 1/4 tank so maybe it does make sense!

Viken:

I never knew the factory weights included a full tank of fuel. That is a little depressing. To your knowledge, is that also true of the RS which had a 92 liter tank rather than the 72 liter tank?
