Help finding 993 key LED conversion DIY?
A few years back I found a DIY guide that explained how to replace the small incandescent bulb in the standard 993 key (2 part key/remote, not switchblade) with a modern LED, two small watch batteries and how to reassemble the whole unit so that you would get much better keyhole illumination from the key. I did the mod and it was great until the wires broke off inside from use and it no longer works. I want to do it again but can't find that DIY guide.
I believe if was on here but I have searched here (as well as pelican forums and straight google) and can't find anything. Anyone know about this DIY article and where I could find it?

There is another DIY here, just scroll down to "L.E.D. Key Light conversion" after the link opens:

I did this conversion and had a functioning key light for a couple of weeks before the LED died. Aren't LEDs supposed to use a resistor when drawing from 3V of power? Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help out? Where does everyone order their LEDs from? I bought this one, by the way.

This may not be the answer you are looking for but since starting this thread in 2016, I found out if you order a new key head from Pelican Parts (or probably other places) for $30 or so, it actually comes with an LED light now. So if you really want to do this cheap and DIY that may not help but otherwise, for $30 you can get an improved replacement.

By the way, it's still a bit finicky to actually light when you press the button, just like the old one.
