I like commemorating silly things and I usually have to plan them out. But this Saturday I parked in the garage, looked down and poof...

Google hosted a gathering of Porsche execs, and I got to bring the 993 out to give them a warm welcome. It got a ton of compliments, and one of the execs was excitedly showing me photos on his phone of his white/grey 993. Pretty awesome!

Interesting. Where did you get the shifter?

I purchased the shift **** from Pelican Parts years ago but never really like the look with the leather boot. I saw a video on the singer 911 and I saw the shifter. So I did a search singer 911 shift boot. And it brought up the link 964 forum guys had already started on this mod.

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...t-*****-9.html

I decided to not go with the cylinder stainless steel or blk matte shifter and just shrink rapped the OE shifter. I used my old leather shift boot and cut it.

I'll post photos of the different shift ***** I've have tried over the years. The 917 is probably the favorite. This and the CF.

Looks good. How do these pedals feel vs stock. Do they provide enough grip?

Yes the grip is very good. The perforated edge is out so your shoes grab the small edge. I'm very happy with the feel and the look. The dead Pedal also protects the carpet from showing dirt and stains from your shoes. RC

I drove my 993 to work and parked it on the street like I always do. I love this car. Since I am now again driving it year round in the Midwest, I can say that it is just perfect. Many more scars on the car but each reminds me of great and not so great times alike. Using it all the time is the biggest reward I have received from owning this car for the last five years.

I have wracked up 40K miles and can't complain. Not one bit. I also sold the fancy LMs I had on it and feel like I can relax now. All that worrying about damaging them sucked.

  1. Re-geared my G50/20 to closer ratios. In the (long) time I have owned my 993 I have determined how and where I like to drive it and bringing the gears I use most frequently closer together makes it a different car IMHO. Gears were sourced by Matt Monson at Guard LLC and the box built by Bob at RMG. Both are outstanding to work with. Matt provided valuable guidance in choosing the right ratios, patiently iterating with me over multiple configurations and giving me honest advice. Gears were truly built to my specs. Bob is meticulous and has built a G50/20 or two
  2. Installed a Guard LSD. Very noticeable on throttle-on coming out of a turn.
  3. Installed Fister Stage IIIs - Darin was awesome to work with, turning around the mufflers quickly. About that sound Let's just say I am wearing a beanie so I can drive around with the windows down all the time
  4. Had the fan and housing refinished by Mark Motshagen. A true craftsman and absolutely worth the wait.

Cheers

alex
Very nice. Did you get the Guard LSD from Guard directly? This is something I am beginning to strongly consider. TIA

Received and installed the shiny new hood emblem. It looks nice but lacks the patina of the original. Oh well!

Then, I replaced some cashmere door bits with black ones for some contrast. Thoughts?

Prefer the 1st photo, assume that is the before? Sorry. Just IMHO.
