Default 98 Targa "Anniversary Edition"?

I'm talking with someone who is selling their 98 "Anniversary Edition" Targa. I've never heard of such a model. Does it really exist? If so, is it worth more than a non-anniversary model? Did they make a limited amount of them?

Help on this would be appreciated! Thanks

Hmm... Never heard of an "anniversary edition" Targa. That's not to say one didn't exist, though. They were rare cars, anniversary edition or not.

Do you have any specs/pics on the car you can post? Color combo, options/option codes, etc.? Perhaps something interesting can be found in the overall combination.

Default Wha?

What anniversary was in 1998? Perhaps a dealership was running a local sale then.

I had a 993 Targa and although it doesn't make me an expert, I was pretty informed about 993 Targa "stuff" and never heard of an anniversary edition targa. Check into it further and let us know what you find.

Well, all that commotion about Porsche's 50th anniversary in 1998 comes to mind...

That being said, I don't recall any '98 "anniversary" cars from the factory either.

Well, that answers that! Guess the extra 10k he was askin' b/c it's an Anniversary Edition was all "smoke & mirrors". Glad I didn't fall for it! Thanks everyone, very much!!

Stu, I bought a 98 Targa last year. In my research, I never saw anything about an "Anniversary Targa." As I recall, the Red Book said that there were only 112 Targas brought in to the U.S. that last 993 year - so they are rare and could justify a modest premium. Good Luck, Mark

I just saw this 97 Targa with 16,000+ miles. Maybe worth a look. (No affiliation). Mark

Thanks - I noticed it as well, however I'm not ready for a tip just yet. I think I found the car - 98 Targa, 10k miles, silver/black, 6spd, nicely optioned, 2 owner, supposedly very clean. It's not cheap ($54k) but it's just what I'm looking - and that's usually worth paying a bit extra.

I'll post if it works out. Thanks!
