My buddy just texted me last night asking me what I thought of the car as he is highly considering purchasing this car. What would you reckon this car to be worth if he does pull the trigger?

I have no affiliation and personal knowledge of this car, but here is my WAG on valuation. The car has not been raced since 2008, so the question is how up-to-date the mechanicals and safety equipment (seats/belts) are for track use. The ad says it has had cam work and has higher compression which means that it is not suitable for racing in stock class which reduces its value as a PCA race car IMHO.

Mark in Baltimore had his 993 G-class car FS in the $40K+ range, but do not know what he got for it. Karl Potle as Racer's Edge has a 993 similar to this one in cosmetic/safety (i.e. bolt-in cage), but with fresh engine and transmission advertised around $35K IIRC.

I'd say this car mechanically and cosmetically is similar to the 993 we bought several years ago for around $27K, so I'd say mid $20sK is a likely good price. If anyone is interested in a track 993, I'd say Karl's car with fresh transmission and engine is a much better buy. Again, a WAG and YMMV.

Its been on Denver/Boulder craigslist for months for 60k. Obviously too much as the market has spoken to that. That being said, theres no chance it'll be sold in the 20s

Totally agree. That's a lot of car! "Race car" or not...

I would guess between 35-40k.
This car has been for sale for a long time...

With the non-stock pistons and cams, this car is illegal for G class or any letter class. It would have run in the old GT2S or GT2R class, but, with the new performance index classing, it might be something else. Regardless, it would be fairly uncompetitive in PCA without a serious weight reduction, MOTEC, bigger wheels and tires, etc.

NASA might be a different story, though.

I had my car listed for $48,000. I did not get that price, but I ended up being happy with the deal, so one can read between the lines of that statement.

Just my 2 cents...I bought Mark's car and while I got a fair price, I may have slightly overpaid. I was dead set on a track 993 and there were very few nicely prepped cars available (there still aren't many for sale), plus I was extremely impatient. So overall, I felt I got a fair price for a solid car and Mark was a great guy.

I was interested at the time in this car and would have probably bought this one, but seller wasnt at my price level yet. Looks like a solid 993 track car and the seller, from the little I've chatted/emailed with him, seems like a great guy. He has a pretty solid receipt history, as well. You could probably get this back to stock fairly easily/cheaply.

Hopefully it sells. It will definitely define a price level for G-class track prepped 993s.

so how does it work in terms of PPI when buying cars on BAT? Is this sight unseen relying on pictures and seller's disclosures? Do you even get a title since it's a "race" car?

BAT's Terms of Service: http://bringatrailer.com/terms/ . Buyer/seller terms are about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Just like in any auction, sales do fall through and cars, including a 993, have been put up more than once.

I'd think you'd need to resolve the title question with the owner...Shouldn't be any more diffcult to do than in any other sale.
