Post Clear front turn signals in CA.

While surfing around doing a bit of research to answer another thread, came upon the following re the debate about the legality of using clear (vs. amber) bulbs in replacement clear front turn signals:

CA Vehicle Code sect. 24953.
(a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light visible to the rear.

Dan,
You are almost at the 1000 mark! With good research like this, you have been a great asset to the board. If they start giving out tickets for clear indicators there will be a lot of the "fast and furious" crowd up in arms. They are already singled out by the police more than the P-car guys, but it's pretty close.

Great news! I just went clear and kept the original double filament white bulb. Does look significantly better.

Hey Dan,

Thanks for the great info. I currently have clear turn signals but amber bulbs. I am going to switch to white bulbs immediately.

Make sure you get the super-white, otherwise, you'll get yellowish light instead.

Oleg:

You can get them at just about every rice-rocket store. Just bring your old bulb with you. It cost like $12. Just make sure get the dual filament. Also, get the Japanese brand, it's a better quality.

So just stick your arm out the window instead of flicking the lever.
