Default Wheel lock question

So, like an idiot, I somehow misplaced my wheel lock key.

Any suggestions? Anyone know how many different lock keys Porsche made for the 993?

I think there's like 30+ different locks , best thing to do is to drive your car to your local P dealer , they will take there masters and match it to your locks and order you another lock , that's what I did on mine 👍🏼

You mean you did not have one of each lock already?

Thanks for the info though.

Like Rudy said. Dealer should be able to help you out, once off, get a reg lug nut. They aren't going to take time to steal the wheels, it's the whole enchilada they'll take. Wheel looks are a huge pita, especially when stuck in roadside and the key decides to give up the ghost.

Ouch, picture please. Once you have the theft resistant nut key. I would buy five regular nuts and dump the locks as eventually they fail at the side of the road when you need them to work. They can be drilled off with care using a hole saw over the stud. However this is a rather delicate procedure so as to not damage the nut seat on the wheel.

A while back as I got prepared to flush my brakes, I discovered that there was no key...practically tore the car apart looking for it, but it was long lost. I went to my local indy shop and they let me use their master set to figure out which one it was (lucky key number 13 in my case). So I purchased 4 new regular nuts from them and documented which key actually fit the locks I removed. I'm not expecting any thief to steal my crappy Cup IIs.

+1 on the get them off and toss them out.

They seem to make these things out of the softest steel available and one will strip at the most inopportune time.

As rlme36 previously stated, they aren't going to put your car up on concrete blocks and steal your wheels.

While it may be more likely that bad guys would take your entire car, there is still that class of criminal that doesn't have the requisite skills for that. So your wheels may be the next target of opportunity.

Try googling "Porsche stolen wheels" and look at the images results. Plenty to choose from.

My wheel locks are McGard, they seem pretty substantial but wouldn't be exorbitant to replace if they show signs of deterioration eg galling. I did manage to lose my key (left it on the roof changing wheels after a track day, and drove off...) but I took a photo of one of the locks, emailed it to McGard and they were able to supply two replacement keys (one for the toolkit in the frunk, one in my tool chest in the garage).
