Was tinkering around the trunk and noticed there was a cable that is not plugged in anywhere? I looked around the compartment and read through my Bentley Service Manual and I can't figure it out. The only thing that could make sense is something related to the AC Ballast Resistor? The wire runs along the fender and through the firewall.
I was pulling it toward me, but you can see that the wire runs along the fender and is tucked in with other wires below the fluid and eventually goes through the firewall. I can take a video or more pictures too.
I gather in picture 2 you are referring to wire pointed to by Red arrows.
If so, given it is not in wire harness (Green arrows), I have to wonder if it is not factory like battery cut off (Blue Arrow). The end in picture 1 with wires exposed sure looks after market not factory. Aux (not factory) CD player or such at one time?
Does it run back "over" fire wall by drivers hood hinge or thru fire fall with a rubber grommet to protect wire passing thru hole?
Easy way to validate where it goes is to see if one of the wires provides +12 volts relative to ground and then pull the likely fuses until it goes dead. Also you can see if turning on things such as the radio makes one of the wires go live.
Original CD changer should be a 8-wire plug.
I guess this is a aftermarket installation of some kind since it is not bundled into the main harness parts. . If you trace the other end you'll find out.
Cheers,
Tore
So it does pass through a rubber grommet in the firewall and comes into the drivers side footwell near the clutch. I didn't have time to figure it out further, but I will next weekend and will report back.
