you might be on to something. If I cover up the holes in the pistons with leather for the engines in the garage, maybe I won't cry myself to sleep as much. That might just work.

I was actually amazed to see some pretty interesting new and old machinery rebuilt in Poland. A lot of it is horribly mangled MBs and BMWs. It's even better when you see flatbed open trucks dragging the mangled metal from all over Germany to western Poland for... ummm... some "repairs". Then the "repaired" deathtraps move further East. Where I have a pleasure of riding them as taxis on my semiannual visits. The funny part is that they are "exclusive" taxis, the regular ones are even worse.

Has anyone seen any work from them done in alcantara? Also seen any coverings of the hub by them? Covering the hubs in leather is definitely a nice touch.

Agreed. I've used them on another car. Very pleased.

I'm in. Thx for organizing this. I will send info later.
If I don't recover airbag cover, is there a risk that the leather grain wont match, or is the grain something we can choose as well?

If you have an existing leather airbag, I would not re-skin it. The seams on the stock leather airbag look better than a re-trim - unless the stock leather is already damaged.

The cost to cover a vinyl cover with leather at Carsdream is ~€60. Much less than the $300usd that DCT quoted for the airbag leather alone!

I had one airbag cover done by DCW and one by CarsDream and given the choice, even if the price was the same I would easily choose CarsDream. Reasons are:

1. CarsDream did a horn imprint on the airbag cover, DCW did not.
2. Thread used by CarsDream was a better match to the black leather than what DCW used.
3. The seams for the airbag split were more even and straight than the DCW seams.

YMMV.

How did you remove the airbag cover to send it to CarsDream?

I didn't. I actually bought the airbag in Europe and had the seller send it to carsdream. I had however removed the airbag cover off the one that DWT recovered for me as I had to swap the crest.

I don't remember exactly how I did it and I don't have any pictures but if some can post a picture of the back of it that should be enough to jog my memory.

Does this ring a bell?

The badge on this airbag has some scratches so I've been toying with removing the cover to swap the badge for a pristeen one. But I'm concerned I'll blow my face off or wreck the tabs. If you can shed light on how to R&R the cover that would be reassuring...

BTW do you ever do Track Junkies at Castrol?

Let's try this again, courtesy of 911Pervy. https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...e-air-bag.html

"You could remove the 4 nuts that hold that frame on, but I would just cut the plastic section off the old cover, the new one will then push under that frame section and clip in

Yup that helps. I took off the metal puck by undoing the 4 nuts. Once that was off I was able to pry the plastic cover off using some flat head screw drivers. It was pretty straight forward. I was carefull when taking the puck off but I doubt it would discharge unless you applied 12v to the contacts in the center.

Unfortunately neither of those link seem to be working, ebay one is expired and rennlist link says "the requested page was not found"

Edit: thanks for fixing links!
