When was the historic bottom of the 993 market ?

Bought my 101K mile C4S (properly modded) for $32K in the Fall of 2009. I sold it with 111K miles for $42K in 2013 and many people here thought the car was overpriced.
Bought my current 993 NB (well optioned and properly modded) with 108K miles for $27K in 2013.
In 2013 prices started to creep up on the wide bodies. In 2014 the rising tide began to lift all boats.

Rust under the front and rear window trim.
Worn motor mounts.
Re build/replace shifter and linkage.
Re build pedal assembly.
Replace window switches 4 times a year.
Replace front and rear bushings,
Uprights and springs.
Headlight switches every 4 years.
Endless trouble shooting of the resonance flap. ( Indy shop, one of the best )
Broken valve springs.

Did this 993 have 350,000 miles or 450,000 miles on the odometer when you purchased it?
Sounds like you ended up with the most neglected example in the solar system.

Are you the size of a gorilla??? How are you breaking all the switches?
My car has only required regular maintenance, valve gaskets, and front bushings. I haven't replaced a single switch.

I know first hand the run up began Q2-Q3 of 2012. I recall deciding to pull the trigger on a 993 at that time and thought I'd pony up the additional cash for a WB; they were low 40's for a nice mid mileage car (as noted elsewhere in this thread). That same week, a publication (I can't recall which one) listed their top 10 future collectible cars (or Porsches, again can't remember which) and the 993 WB was on it. Prices began to rise on WB's literally overnight and I got priced out of the market. The NB's followed immediately after. I bought my NB for $33k with 62k miles on it in September of 2012 and recall that the value of the car began to creep up between the time I made my offer and when I received the car.

I purchased my 96 NB Coupe in the fall of 2011. What struck me the most was the seller's cell phone rang nearly a dozen times from prospective buyers in the 30 minutes I was there when I initially went to look at it. It was a 48k mile 2 owner car bone stock priced at $32k.
Later on after we struck the deal and money changed hands I asked him if those calls were a ruse, he said not at all and that half of them were brokers. My 2 cents........

Started looking seriously in '07 & '08, pulled the trigger in '09 on my TT. Market seemed flat then and phrases like list price - mileage was a fair price on a TT.
Market was still "stable" if not flat in '10 and '11, then I picked up my HPDE RS tribute in '12, and the market has been on a tear since then.
Wish I had as good timing with some stock picks

I think the bottom of the 993 was like the bottom of everything else. It was tied to the stock market and everybody started selling their toys in 2009-2010.
Almost every collectible car has spiked in the last 5 years. I remember when you could buy a Ford GT(40) all day for $150.

Different models "bottomed" at different times...just like certain models spiked more than others.
I've owned my AS/BLK 6MT 97C2S since 2012; one owner; top end at 90k; bought with 110k; all original paint; all stock. Market for higher mileage cars like mine were in the $35k range; paid $25k

If he has to replace window switches 4 times a year, imagine how hard he is on the rest of the car!

I bought my C4S in November of 2013 after watching the market start to rise for a year. It had 94K on it and I got it for 41K. I have almost 50K in it- but it's in perfect condition and runs super well. I am certain i could get more than I have in it back out, but who cares- it's not getting sold. I drive it in decent weather all year long with winter wheels ( part of the investment I have made in the car) Seems like 2014 was the BIG year for price increases up through about June of 2015, then things seemed to flatten. Although there seems to be a LOT of really high priced cars out there right now- not sure if they are selling- probably not. If the stock market gets going again, I bet prices start climbing again too.

Thanks for the responses guys ... I guess finding a good trustworthy "non-raping" indy shop is a huge MUST for owning a 993.
reading through the old threads about rust worried me a bit , and the oil leaks.
Have a friend of a friend who does a motor tear down every 5 years on his 993TT.
Is this necessary ? particularly for someone like me who doesn't drive a lot due to my lifestyle and schedule ?
Is a 993 ok with being driven only 5K miles a year ?
And back to the topic at hand- the pricing was that $30NB $40 WB and $60TT pricing right after 996 launch or after 997 launch ?

My 95 is 20 years old with 57,XXX miles and has never been "torn" down. That is just someone with too much OCD and money. I drive about 3200-3500 miles per year.
