Pick up a older allroad with a six speed. You'll spend half your budget…then have it for modding if so desired.Theyre tanks in the snow and 6 sod makes them fun to drive…plus plenty of space to toss crap if so desired.

My winter beater is my 993TT because my winter is 80 degrees and looks like a post card! Sorry to do it but it was necessary. Anyway, I'd find an older RX300/350/400h. Relatively inexpensive with 100K miles and nothing will ever break. Heated seats, good factory audio, high enough ground clearance, V6 power, etc etc etc...

Some good stuff here. Remember that the winter beater should be simple, reliable and not soul-sucking. Nothing fun ever happens in an rx350. Allroad may work since I have all summer to fix the stuff that will fail... A friend works at a Subie shop and has 22 used imprezzas just waiting for me. That's plan B. I'm going to look for a local r32 this weekend.

You can fit three dirt bikes in back of ridge line with tailgate open.Friend had one and vehicle of choice when we traveled to ride.Audi's get a bad wrap,I'm on third audi and never had issues,actually wife wanted a subaru so she traded her s4 and got one…..We had more problems outta her subie and the quattro was honestly better in snow.Yes both had comparable tires

Looks like a post card...frozen in place! IMO there is NO worse place to own an air cooled Porsche than Miami. Yes, the winter weather is awesome but there are NO curves/twisties or any elevation to speak of. It's really the track or bust. It's so bad guys get excited talking about which I95 on-ramps are better than others to accelerate off of. Factor in the traffic, both in terms of volume and the poor driving skills of the locals and their relatives from Central and South America...and compounded by the heavy rains! Honestly I'd rather own a Porsche in NYC, being that the Parkways, Catskills and Poconos are close by.
