Post TPC Supercharger Installed

Hey everyone,

After 1 1/2 months my car is finally going to be coming out on Tuesday. TPC superchager, FVD 3.8 conversion, port and polished heads, Multi angled valve job, phosphorus-bronze sleeves, Web racing camshafts, bored throttle body and finally a 2nd oil cooler from Gert DA MAN!

Here are some photos for those who are and were interested.

Sorry in advance for my ignorance but I am not up to date on your project - is this car for the track or the street? If the latter I would be interested on how you are/will deal with smog inspections as I have also considered the TPC conversion in the past but was put off by the smog issue...you can PM if you prefer.

Thanks

A thing of beauty (wiping tears away...)

Where in Ca are you? I'd like a ride...actually, I don't think I really need anymore temptation.
Give us a report as soon as you're up and running!

Very nice. Looks like MUCHO fun!

Any plans to dyno it? If so, please post the results. I bet it will pack a wallop.

Also, any plans to track the car?

Hi,
Great pics.
Can I ask if you considered getting a TT instead and if so what made you opt for the conversion?
Goodluck on Tuesday.

David in LA:
This project is mainly for personal enjoyment. Mostly street use and seldom track use. Believe it or not I removed the smog pump from the car My mechanic has done it too all his street 993s and with cats to scrub the emissions all teh cars have blown clean in all emission testing. You don't have to remove the smog pump, but it just made it better for a cleaner install. There's so much **** in the engine compartment that I can fit my lunch box in there .

Edward:
I'm originally from Diamond Bar CA. Currently in Toronto Canada for work "eh"? Car is here with me too. Boy is it getting cold here.

Vinny '98 3.8 C2S
I will dyno it as soon as I'm done getting my "FIX" I've been without my car for tooooo long. But no doubt I will post dyno results when it is done. I too am curious what it will be putting down to the rear wheels. I do plan on tracking the car once and a while. I just wanna see how the supercharger works on teh track. Hopefully I can blow by some Twin Turbos in my Carrera?

Tito
Love the Twin Turbo still dreaming to own one. I was always a big believer of factory stuff. I've had my car for 4 1/2 years and I have grown way to attached to it and don't think I could part with it. One day I hope to own a TT, but for now I have my one and only "baby"

Hi ICONRACING911,
WOW.....Just what I,ve been thinking in the back of my mind lately. Very interesting to hear that you intend to use it as street car, ever considered how it affect the longivity/reliability of the engine? .....'cos that would be something that I'll have to consider if I was to go for the supercharger... I bet it would be awsome to drive....please tell us quick how it goes...
If you don't mind me asking, how much did the whole project cost? is it really cheaper than going for a TT?

ICON,

Did you lower your compression ratio while you had the engine apart before installing the TPC?

That is going to be one awesome 993, respect.

Good point KASH. I owned a couple of turbocharged cars before the 993 and they had lower compression ratios to work with the boost. ICON, real curious if you tackled it that way?

Enjoy

The supercharger uses much less boost than a turbo, so I don't expect that this lucky bugger has had to reduce the c/r, though if he had the pistons out etc, he may as well have.

From my limited enquiries, prolonged track use will benefit from intercooler/water injection or lowered c/r as elevated head temps can lead to early detonation.

Look forward to your running reports, ICONRACER, "eh"?
