Default Heigo RS-Style Bolt-In Roll Bar

Does anyone think installation of the Heigo RS-style bolt in roll bar with X brace will contribute to chassis stiffening?

I have a DAS one piece bolt-in roll bar that tightened things up. I also have a front shock tower brace that also helped. I use to get a creaking noise when bridging sloping driveway to roadway, not any more. I am not familiar with Heigo bars.

I believe Heigo was/is the mfg RS OEM unit in the strut tower brace.

just installed a alu polished lightweight HEIGO type 516.042 porsche 993 SSD in my car. it sure does stiffen up the vehicule.
but the cage needs really good tensioning by turning the wire ends of the x-brace and other support braces.

Default Heigo RS-Style Bolt-In Roll Bar

Not sure I understood that last post. Can you elaborate? And is that one for sunroofs too?

Yes the one I have is for a sunroof car; SSD means Stahl Schiebe Dach (or steal sunroof). The non-sunroof version is different. I guess some 7 cm taller.

Mounting a bolt-in roll bar makes the car certainly more rigid.

Not trying to stir the pot here, but an aluminum rollbar? Isn't that kind of a structural oxymoron? Aluminum isn't generally strong enough for that task. I'm sure it'd do fine for chassis bracing, but I kinda doubt an aluminum rollbar would pass tech or rules for most race organizations as a rollbar.

really? why is it that nobody questions the strenght of alu rims vs steel ones;
the half cage has 4mm thick tubes, comes with a German TÜV certificate and is approved for FIA racing

Just an observation ,I have a heigo half cage in my GT and it mounts a hell of a lot closer to the roof than your install looks...
Are you certain it's installed correctly ? I believe the rearmost legs should be at the seat back level ,not the bottom seat position...
just an FYI , thanks Bert

Wheels have nothing to do with this topic.

Anyway, care to point where the TUV/FIA certification approval is for AL roll bars?
I couldn't find it in a quick check, but glad to be corrected.

For giggles, go look at the last of the 935s with an AL cage, and you'll be frightened just standing next to it. (Yeah, yeah, the first two years of 964 Cups were AL.)

@budge96: correct observation and thanks for your concern.

this was a picture of the first temporary install. the fixation point low on the B pillar was not done yet and way off; the cage tilted backwards.

@race911: the TÜV certificate is issued by HEIGO and came with the cage.
