Default Can someone point me...

To a topic in the 993 forum that suggest upgrades to a base C2S 6 Speed and in which order would be most logical to proceed to upgrade the car!

Or if some can suggest upgrades and start a new forum posting here!?

I've been at Renn for years but I rarely ever spend anytime in here. Compared to the Turbo's the plain cars seem a good deal after a good PPI and bottom end going over.

pretty simple.

1. suspension...pss10s, bilstein hd, Koni, or H&R
2. Walrod front control arm bushings
3. FDM Goldenrod
4. Exhaust upgrades...FDM stage 2 or 3 is popular and inexpensive
5. good alignment

that would give you a good looking, good driving, good sounding car and not put off potential buyers in the future.

The only thing I would add would be the possibility of a different-than-base wheel/tire combination. It would depend upon what's already on the car.

What's the intended use? Around town, spirited, track?

First, are all maitenance items uptodate? Gaskets, plugs, plug wires, caps and rotors, brakes, any loose suspension pieces.

I would add tarret rear toe links while doing suspension upgrades and rehaps re-bush rear arms as well.

Fire extinguisher

Engine mounts (if old/sagging)

If money no object I like sport cat with fister 1 for exhaust set up.

Are you talking about the Authentic Hollow Spoke or the Porsche Turbo Wheel look a likes that they made? Which weren't hollow spoke!? I know you know they made the two different type. If not I would get MHT T10s.

Porsche made both hollow spoke and solid spoke. I would stay away from either as they are prone to cracking with age and not cheap to find one wheel in decent shape.

If I were buying rims I'd get something new or lightly used (i.e RH 3.6, BBS, Oz etc depending on use and look preference).

if I had a US 993, I would add Litronic (Xenon) as number 2 after suspension, and three spoke '98 steering wheel as number 3 in order.
could not drive without them, once installed

Getting rid of the US-spec bumperettes (front and rear!) would be high on my to-do list. I like the OEM 18" 993 turbo twist wheels but a lowered 993 on OEM 17" Cup 2 wheels looks quite awesome as well.

IMHO, #1, #2, & #5 should be combined and done together.

What about bringing the BHP up to ar least 325 instead of 282 or am I just chasing something that doesn't really matter after all the other suggested upgrades to the suspention?

to get 325hp from a 993 is going to take cubic dollars, an SRS engine kit would be north of $10k and be only a bit above 300 w/ the right chip.

Best mods, while not cheap are
1) suspension - emulate RS, +1 is to use sport rubber bushes on the front A-arm leading leg where RS didn't(Elephant Sport rubber bushes are the same as oe RS. use them instead of buying new A-arms) in back buy RS A-arm and KT arm the others are the same as regular but probably could use replacement anyway, especially the toe arms, PSS10 would be a good sub for the RS Bilsteins but it's harder to use camber plates w/ them, if not going to RS height you can skip the RS wheel carriers.
2) transmission re-gear - Again emulate RS, /31, /32 or Cup/RSR /30 or /34 gears sets

-I forgot to add LWFW if new clutch is needed.

-Like Bill said, any power upgrades will cost a lot and can become potential headache if not done right.

Ok I see just make sure the engine is running good and strong and work on the suspension and transmission - even though from the options listed I wouldn't know what would be best. I'm just talking DD to and from work and be rock solid. First two or three gear gather speed quickly and the last three cruising gears.

Do I have to worry about the rind and pinion to be 8 and 32, or was it 36, like the older models?

Thanks for your help. I sure as hell won't be driving this up the 405 during rush hour. It will be Sepulveda Blvd all the way for those who know the Topography.

Much Thanks...

Go through the suspension:
Don’t just look for broken parts, pay close attention to the condition. You will probably find a lot of worn/weak rubber bits. Don’t worry about shocks just yet.

Go through the motor:
New plugs / wires / distributor belt
Take apart the intake, clean all of the accumulated oil and grime from inside.
Make sure the resonance valve(s) are working properly
Send the injectors off to be cleaned
Filters
Replace all fluids (and I mean all)
Cats / Mufflers make sure they are in tip top shape

Give it a good cleaning: Top to bottom, inside and out

Signup for a DE:
Now that you have been all over and under the car, and know that you have a solid baseline, take it to the track and see what it can really do. You will be surprised how good these cars are right out the box. You may also come from the track with a very clear list of what you want to change…. Nothing better to expose weaknesses than the track.

Now would be a good time to sell the house and pimp the wife....

Shocks / Suspension will probably be #1 on your list.
