Just want to lower my SUV. The stock shocks only have 30k miles on them, so I think they're ok for a little while longer... I only put around 4k years per mile on my car and just driver it around town. No DEs or track time.

So I can just have my friendly shop put the springs on, do an alignment and I'm good, right?

I've found H&R springs for $399 at Shox.com. Sound about right?

With the cost of installing the shocks, alignment, corner balencing at about $1000, you don't want to put on an inferior setup.

Just replacing the springs, as other have done on this board and disliked, is not a good idea. Your shocks are a) probably shot and b) not valved correctly for those springs.

_At least_ get the Bilstein HD shocks with the 30MM extra lowering when you change them out. Or better yet, spend a little more, and get the pss-9's. Otherwise, you might spend more money with r/r'ing the whole setup a second time.

Jeff's right. I bought my car with Eibach springs and stock shocks on. It's a very poor match.

I've heard others say they like Eibachs combined with Bilsteins, but I have not sampled that set-up. I am going to go the ROW route which should suit the stock shocks mostly because the ride height is too low for me as well.

BTW, I think tire rack sells the R&H springs slightly cheaper I think.

So PSS-9s at around $1500 then labor at $1000 is really the best way to go? Good Lord, that's $2500 just to lower my car?

kinda like newpads/rotors or a set of new tires, a guy has to forget what he used to pay to do the same on his SC or Carerra!! (or, just mutliply it by 2.67) LOL. My Bilstein HDs/ Eibachs/ install was about $1900 if i remember correctly....and i have pretty much blocked the RS swaybars/droplinks prices out of my head

I agree that pss9's are the better way to go (only parts cost more) but since you are not tracking & you just want looks I would install new blisten HD's with the H&R Springs. I have H&R springs with 36k miles I didn't change my shocks. That was a big mistake!! They don't match & just changing the shocks require a new aligment So next time I will do it right & go with the pss9's!!

When I purchased my 993, I too wanted to lower it so I got a set of the H&R sport springs and installed them with the stock shocks. I hadn't found this forum yet and didn't know any different. It wasn't long before my car would seem to hunt for a set in the suspension up front during spirited cornering, and I soon had no confidence in the way it handled. I then started to look for answers, found this forum, got a lot of feedback and then I went the PSS-9 route as I like my car low. What a world of difference in the way the car handles now and I can truley say that I have been there done that and I will say that to use the H&R's with the stock setup is NOT good and you will waste your time and money doing it. Just my $.02 worth.

Hi Richard . . . FWIW, I track my car maybe once a year . . . it has 70K miles on it with the stock suspension (yes it's probably shot to h#$%) and I have a blast. I chased Steve (OFE) with his 993TT through the best of the Santa Monica Mountains in the same car and once again . . . I had a blast. I too am considering replacing the shocks and springs . . . not for the performance, but for the looks (such a poser). I'm considering the Bilstein HD's with the H&R Springs (from gert) with my stock sways, because I don't need an adjustable shock . . . heck, I wouldn't know what to do with an adjustable shock on my car, in fact I think they would cause me more trouble then they are worth . . . I just know I must get rid of the SUV look . . . Bottom line as far as I'm concerned . . . if you want to go fast your Porsche is well equiped right now to blow your socks off . . . remember speed is all about the "nut behind the wheel" . . .

wow, are the pss-9's only 1500? I thought they were 2000$. I bought the bilstein HD's for 1000$ Man only if i knew the pss9's were 1500

Just like what the others said, might as well change the shocks too. One of my shocks was dead at 37k miles. If you want it for looks like i do, just get the Bilstein HD's with H&R's.

So for $1,826 I can get the PSS9 with the M030 sways. This does not seem to be much, if any, more expensive than the Bil HD/H&R set up w/o the sways. How much for installation and alignment as I am not a DIY guy when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I do wash my car myself though.

Or about the same price from bimmerparts.com and you get the hats and extra wrenches. I think ajusa.com had a sale of them for around $1700 too.
