Default Engine Rebuild

Getting ready to pull engine and rebuild. I received every part with an Engine rebuild kit except the lifters. My thought is I should replace, what have other people done. It seems a no brainer to replace??

Also my car is a 95 Should I plug the SIA system

Default Engine Rebuild

I'm preparing to do the same. Definitely replacing the lifters.

Interested in what others feel about oem($40) vs oe ($120) options.

What's an "engine rebuild kit"?

Understand each one of these projects is like a snowflake--no two are alike.

Checked all parts listed for your kit , individually, at porsche in germany, price for all is 1600 euros.
Hopefully all parts you received are Original Porsche.

$1000 shipping included
the 993 timing tools, (crank holder, cam lockers, cam floating bolts, chain tensioners)

If the car is otherwise stock, I would probably replace it to keep the overall authenticity of the car. Otherwise, Patrick motorsports has the right bungs.

Hi Geo,

Almost missed this....
You have 16 Porsche lifters you will sell for $600? Sounds like the deal of the century to me :-)

If so, Ill take the whole lot: Lifters, Timing Tools, and pistons off your hands.
Let me know if you have any other goodies laying around that you want to throw in too :-)

Are you planning on using the OE valve guides included in the Vertex rebuild package?

I'd be wary of a "rebuild kit" sold by Vertex. Example would be the quality of any gaskets and O-rings.

One size fits all doesn't necessarily work on these cars.

Not sure whats to be gained by plugging ports that will plug all by themselves, and which do not get monitored on a 95 OBD 1 system.

On a '95, without the V-Ram, removal of the SAI crap allows easier access to that area. Say for example replacement of the oil pressure sender, which I did last year.
I would have had a difficult time if it was still there!
