Random moment of key fob not working...anything to worry?
Locked up my car with the tender on it and all. A week or so later came back, key fob was lighting up when I hit the alarm button, but wouldn't unlock/disarm.
Opened with the key, alarm went off, still nothing working on arm/disarm.
Closed the door, let the alarm time out, key fob worked perfectly. No problems since.
Any ideas? Anything to worry about?

Timely question. I recently changed the battery in my fob too, but I still need to get very close to the car for it to unlock the doors.
I'm also curious about what could impact the performance of the receiver in the car (assuming the fob is at full strength).

My remote has never had great range. But this was literally 3" from the door and no unlock. After the alarm reset, it unlocked from several feet away, no drama. Well, no more drama.

I don't recall this happening with my 993. However, this sounds exactly what happens with my 996 turbo. It's described in the turbo owner's manual. Basically to save battery life, after 5 days the key fob goes to sleep. Pressing the button has no effect. I then have to manually lock and unlock the door. Don't open it, just lock and unlock with the key; else the alarm sounds. After going through this step, the fob works again.
I know it's a different system, different car, but the next time you let it sit for several days, give it a try. Can't hurt.

The battery can be old even when just purchased as it is an old style that may have been on the distributors shelf for quite a while. Also the battery contacts in the remote are quite flimsy and need to be cleaned regularly. Light on does not indicate good output, simply that the push button is working.

Also, while you're at it, change the battery in your spare key fob as well. It often gets overlooked until it's needed.
Truthfully, think the range issue and the unwillingness to unlock after going unused are two separate things.
