Forgive me, for I have sinned (HWFM Racing)
Forgive me team leader, I raced twice this weekend and violated the team standards both times.
For penance, I wrecked another splitter and a wheel. First race - Right corner of the splitter when another sports racer hit me (intentionally). Wheel and some body work when he crowded me off track and towards a wall just after the first hit, so I hit him to stay off the wall. Second race - Center of the splitter when I got a bit too close to a formula car in the third turn of the race.
A fellow racer worked corners Saturday for the first time and summed it up: "I can't tell you how much of what we do out on the track that seems completely normal when we are doing it, looks completely insane from track side!"
HWFM Racing gods must not have been appeased, so they returned my Spec Racer (rented to a friend) two feet shorter than when he started the race.
What else do I have to do in order to return to the good graces of the team?

Well, my son, from what I hear (the team has spies everywhere) you have indeed sinned. Not ONE, but TWO PODIUMS, including a FIRST PLACE. I for one am appalled. This is against everything the team stands for.
However, it sounds like you will have to dig deep into your pockets (and to continue your analogy, that's the kind of penance the church likes).
So my first instinct is to say you're gone, but since you do everything in such an entertaining manner, which is very HWFM, I'm thinking leniency and forgiveness, as long as you don't make a habit of this. (Besides, taking out the Easter Bunny was like a Plenary Indulgence)
What do other team members think?

Your spy network caught me. It was my first National win. Along with the second, it also put me in the points lead for the Division.
I can change my name - How about Marc or is that worse? I will give rides. I will slaughter more small helpless creatures. I throw myself on the mercy of the team. (Also don't forget that I have a Scotch company as a sponsor.)

(Now how much Scotch can you have at Road America Memorial Day weekend?)
edit - perhaps other team members should voice their opinions

It was Jeff's idea, not mine. I had nothing to do with it & strongly advised against it. If you've got to audit someone - take him - besides, he's got a 400 HP turbocharged car & must, therefore, be socially & environmentally irresponsible.
As for Mark - congratulations on your victories. I'm afraid, despite your self deprecating statements, you are incapable of driving poorly enough to provide any true leadership for the team. However, I think there is a place for you as a negative role model. You have forsaken all that Mike has taught: it's more peaceful, relaxing & less destructive at the back of the pack. It's also friendlier, with time to wave back to your friends at the corner stations when they acknowledge you w/their pretty blue & yellow flags.
