'95 horn update/downdate?
Does anyone have a close-up photo of a '95 993 that shows how the two horns mount within the right wheel well?
I have bought the two horns and bracket to 'upgrade' my horn from a '96 to a '95 and prior but can't understand how the bracket properly mounts.
One step back, two steps forward.
thanks

Brad,
Don't understand what you are trying to do? Are the 96 horns the flat disk electronic type? At some point I was thinking about upgrading to that type, but now I have grown to like the sound.

Hi E.J.,
What I am doing is changing my horns from the round disk types to the traditional dual trumpet horns; horns that Porsche has used since probably the beginning of the 911 series.
One trumpet is a high tone the other a low tone. IMO they give that traditional Porsche/European sports car sound. The new style of dual disks for my tastes are just to American land yacht sounding.
I guess I was brainwashed (earwashed?) with an older 911 I lived with for so long.

Hi Robin,
Thanks for the photo!
The photo did confirm how I thought that the horns might be mounted on the bracket. So, that was nice to solve that half of my mystery.
Now the other half to be determined is the positioning of the bracket to the body. I could pretty much guess but, mounting it the way Porsche would have mounted it in '95 would be nice to do. Anyone else?
Thanks again Robin.

I don't think people that changes to the two tone horn do it for the loudness aspect of it, the two tone horn has a distinctive "Porsche" horn sound. As the other horn sounds very "generic".

Because of noise restriction laws these horns will be louder. But i'll let you know for sure.
But what I am really looking forward to (and hoping for) is the higher pitch they put off. More unique and attention getting.
When I have to honk at the pretty girls walking by its important I get there attention.

Brad, If I had my car i would take a picture for you. As you know all that is required is removal of the forward section of fender liner. Maybe Randall has a picture from changing the Temp sensor?
If you can wait a week, I will have my car back and take a pic for you.

That would be Great if you could take a pic! I can wait Whenever its convient.
I pretty much have determined where it should go but it seems like in '96 Porsche may have not have welded on a mating plate (which to secure my bracket) that may have been there in '95. Thats my deduction becuse of the way it looks up in there.

Hi,
if it is on further interest.
I have done the upgrade / downgrad today in
my '96. You cannot use the bracket for the
trumpet horn it doesn't fit to a 96. You have
to use the bracket for the later round horns at the same place, put the long trumpet at hte left side and the short one on the right . That's the only way it fits. Sorry for bad englisch, I'm German.
