Rich, I love your threads, but your car seems to be spending a lot more time on the lift than on the road. It's such a beauty, you need to drive it more!
Best pictures i can find. One shows the position of the car on the lift pretty well from the side. I dont have anything from under the car though.
Mine was exactly the same. I have a Direct-Lift (identical to the Atlas) and I did not have to cut the rear cross bar for my engine/trans to clear. It was close, but doable.
I found working on the torque-tube and shift linkage more of a PITA with a scissor lift..I hated climbing in there, even with the safety on....
I'm with you Jakob, didn't like being under there twisted up between metal. I had some 12x12 concrete papers that I staked up under the wheels when I was able to. It made me feel safer. I'm sure the safety would catch it, but I just didn't like being under it in a position I could not easily retreat from.

I see now. Thats exactly what I figured I'd have to do and I wasnt too comfortable with how far back the car was positioned but now I know. I left enough of the cross bar where I can drill holes and bolt a brace back into place if I wanna use the lift on my Touareg and not worry any structural integrity was lost when it matters

HAHA... thanks. I put 7k miles on it in 2 years. Youre probably right, lol. I stop driving it around November and barely get back into it by March. Too much salt on the roads around here all winter.
