Thumbs up

Robin,

I'm also glad to hear that you and the family are OK.

I share your respect for H&K and Glock models. We keep a Glock 22 with a pre-ban mag (15 rounds) in a Gunvault at the home.

I've had a CCW permit in TX, GA, AL, and now, KY. Last year, I bought a Kahr PM9 (9mm) for everyday carry. Unloaded, it weighs only 15.9 oz. It's my third Kahr, and they are great, reliable little guns.

I also have a Seecamp .32 which can be carried in a back pocket holster. It's easily the most convenient gun I've ever owned, but admittedly a bit underpowered. I believe Seecamp may have started selling a .380 version.

Robin,

Good to hear that you and the family are ok.

As for the detour in thread content... "Bowling For Columbine" came out on DVD this week, and I can't help wondering what observation Michael Moore would make of the gun content on a forum for car enthusiasts... If you haven't seen this documentary, it's very thought provoking...

Paul,

Without wanting to start a major philosophical tirade, I view guns as I do kitchen knives, performance cars, horses, planes, pesticides, caustic chemicals, prescription narcotics, and all other potentially dangerous items. It's up to the owners to use them responsibly and keep them out of the hands of children and others not properly trained to use them.

At my house, we teach our children to view guns as lethal weapons. No shooting video games and no toy guns around here. And, everything is locked up in a safe when not being carried on our bodies.

I've not seen the documentary, but I have watched Mr. Moore on several interviews. My conclusion: "thought-provoking" perspectives from a man who looks like he could benefit from a bath and a shave. I would also advise him that baseball caps do not look good with a sportscoat.

To continue the off topic excursion, Michael Moore is under loads of criticism not only from the responsible researchers who have blasted his "findings" as pure sensationalist fabrication, to which Moore has no credible defense, but he is also under serious scrutiny by his OWN industry. It seems the Academy of Motion Pictures didn't like the fact that his so-called "Documentary" is sooo far removed from fact that to call it a "Documentary" called to question their own credibility. Moreover, I've heard that the other Documentaries that were up for consideration raised their eyebrows when the stink on Moore's PseudoDocumentary started gaining some legs; they felt robbed since they produced Real Documentaries! I'd caution anyone who sees Moore's Leftist Diatribe; what you call "thought provoking" is, more likely than not, Moore's stilted perspective that blatantly attempts to sway good, conscientious people into demonizing guns and their owners. Yes, all the aforementioned is IMHO, but ALSO in many others' Professional opinions, as well. Take care all! Now, back to our regularly scheduled program....

Edward,

Sort of reminds me of a certain Ms. Huffington and her view of SUV's. If only life were so simple.

"Bowling for Columbine" is not only a slanted diatribe instead of a documentary, it is a complete fabrication by a person with no sense of ethics or morality.

Moore started filming assuming that the "gun nuts" would provide plenty of crazy quotes for him to use to make his point. When he realized that this would not happen, he carefully edited multiple speeches together, often in mid-sentence, to create quotes that were never made and did not reflect the views of the speaker.

Specific details here

Of course, fabricating data to support preconceived notions is neither new nor rare, and people often overlook or apologize for it, if it supports their world view. We should speak out against the liars and criminals like Moore, whether it supports our views or not.

Sorry for the OT rant.

Hi Robin. Sorry to see the damage that jerk did to your car. Thank God all of you are OK. Having lived in Florida since 1995, I have seen it all. Miami is specially full of illegals who have no clue how to drive, nor carry any form on insurance. Compensation? Forget about it!! They own the clothes they wear and the junker they drive. period. Best to you, and hey..at least you did not have to come see me for major dental repairs.

Guys,

I want to thank you guys all very much for your concerns and comfort. I will keep you guys posted as to the fate of the 5000 lb family wagon.

Sorry to start off the off topic discussion on guns, is was not intended to get to this point.

I believe many of us have many similiar and close interests that we can share together, that's make this board a great place.

Thank you all.

The Miami driving situation isn't only caused by the illegals. I have seen bad driving across the board. I guess in some respects, we can do everything possible to be defensive in our driving but sometimes Karma takes over. The bottom line, we are not totally in control of life. Sometimes you have to deal with the deck that gets dealt to you.

Of course, that's why I enjoy DE's and Club Racing. You are exceeding the speed limit by a lot and it's with guys (and gals) who you can trust to make a better driving decisions than the majority of animals on the roads today. Agreed?

I totally agree.

That was/has been the single most frustrating & nerve wrecking thing when I moved from Finland to here.

I've stopped yelling like grazy, I just laugh out loud when I see idioits going up and down, left and right (emergency signals on)...
