In any negotiated deal the party making the first offer has the advantage. Without an asking price the buyer is at a distinct disadvantage as the seller already knows what his own bottom line is. I would NEVER do business with a seller who refuses to "show" his asking price. Could you ever imagine buying a house or new car from a seller who says "make me an offer"? Sorry but that is the heads I win, tails you lose way of doing a deal.

Mark,
I had a few of these "fair offer" things. Not worth the hassle. They're hoping you'll offer four times the dealer price. When you give them an offer to test where their price is they get offended. As far as I am concerned these people behave BADLY coz they are trying to rip you off!!
You, on the other hand, behaved curteously and rationally. Life is indeed too short to deal with %%$&(^& like that.

Hi Mark,
The guy sounds like an idiot for not putting a response to your original offer. Without the spoiler I would say up to half the price new was a fair offer assuming that it is in good condition and is the same colour as the car you have. I need to get a rea bumper for my car next year but won't go much higher than this if I have to respray it as by the time you factor in the additional cost you might as well buy new in the first place. As for the spoiler - unless you can live with it then just wait for another one to turn up.
Cheers,
David

I just bought a Euro turbo bumper cover for a widebody (without the bumperette cutouts) for $650. The Turbo S spoiler can be had for about $600-$650. The seller can get most any OEM part at deep discounts. Email or PM me if you'd like his name.

Holy cow! I had to turn around and see if anyone was watching my monitor (I'm at work). I thought it was an on-line parts store. And I couldn't close couple of the pop-ups until I finally figured out.
