Default best 18in street tires

I am thinking about switching to 18in rims, Curious as to what tires are best suited to the street, meaning not alot of noise and comfortable.

I recently have Pzero Nero mounted on my 18" wheels. They are very quiet and comfortable, better ride than my 17" Michellin Mxx3. They are supposed to be quieter than the Rosso too.

Lots of religion on this topic. I have the S03's and they are ok. I'm going to try the S02a's or Michelin Pilot Sports next.

Assymetricos work for me. Compared to the offroad tires on my 4runner, they are EXTREMELY quiet!

Anyone tried the new Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3? Tirerack has very good ratings of this tire.

I would definitely suggest adding Michelin Pilot Sports to your short list. They will probably be my next tire purchase.

Tires with Rib tread patterns are usually more quite than tires with the V pattern. The S03's more quiet than the S03's. I have the Pilot Sport Ribs and they are much more quiet than the Pilot Sports with the V or W pattern.

I am very happy with the Pilot sports. I also use them on the track (until I get another set of rims) & I am pleased with them there as well!!

I'd recommend the following order... Pilot Sports, S03, S02, Falken, Sumitomo, Kumho. I've used all of them on my 18" & 19" wheels.

Thumbs up

Hi Sean,

I've got Pilot Sports with the "old school" rib look. They are much quieter on some road surfaces (typically concrete motorways) than the "W" pattern Pilot Sports that the idiots fitted the first time.

Cheers,

David

Kaching:

I had the AVS Sport S-1's and found them awefully sterile with how they felt on the road. At first rationale, I switched to S-02's (N rated) and like them much better.

Next go around, I plan on going with the Michelin Pilot Sports or even Sport Cups.

2 cents...

Tried S02 and Pirelli Pzero Rosso: I prefer Pirelli, even if they wear more quickly.
(The PZero rosso have a wheel protection).

I have SO-2s on one cab, SO-3s on the other...between the two I much prefer the SO-2s even though they are noisier (which I can't hear anyways due to the SuperCups ).
