Hi Piers

Haven't noticed any holes under the splitters, but definitely a few scratches. Then again i cant remember.

No.7 - Steering

Harry - I'm pretty sure 993RS is not seem-welded. 964RS was for sure. Pls correct me if i am wrong on this one

Hi Phil

According to April 2003 911&PW magazine they are seam welded. Good back issue to get as an 'RS Special' issue. Whilst on the subject, the Porsche 'Service Information Technik 96' (Ref. WKD 499 620) is well worth getting from Gert at Carnewal - tonnes of 'rainy afternoon' technical information!

Piers, no mesh beneath the holes of the splitters - just longitudinal slats of the splitters.

Hi Piers

Just jumping back to the Service Teknik 96 booklet you mention earlier. I have 1 booklet which is a supplement to the service book. It is a thin booklet with the RS specs, operator guide, various transmission options and plot of the hp/torque curves in the back (in German). Can you confirm if this is the same as you have? I am presuming you have the english version

If it is different i will order it.

I will look for the mesh tonight and come back...If your car has been tracked i wouldn't be suprised if any mesh was taken out if fitted to aid cooling..The holes are nowhere near as obvious as on a regular carrera.

clubsport1, perhaps the vent design is different for boggo RS vs Clubsport RS as the spoilers both rear and front are different.

With respect to options, although a car is ordered new from a dealer with the additional parts requested (presumeably for financial reasons) sometimesthe parts would be supplied to the dealer seperately and fitted by the dealership. We came across a 911 3.2 CS with rear seat option, these were very amateurly fitted by the dealer by slashing the carpet and screwing on the centre support with large self tappers, similarly another customer had a 996 with "factory" GT3 kit that had been painted and fitted in the UK (caused a problem with the value of the car on trade in to another dealer!). All depends on the honesty of the dealer I suppose. In cases like these I suggest that any prospective purchaser check the option codes very carefully for each item as they should all be listed on the sticker under the bonnet.

I've checked options at

http://www.kindel.com/Porsche/options.asp

197 Higher amperage battery
451 Prepared for radio for sport group
562 Airbag driver's side
562 Airbag driver's and PASSENGER'S side
573 Air conditioner
651 Electric windows

No mention of rear seats!?

Does anyone know what the following are:
C00
09971
09981

Thanks
Piers

Ref the holes/vents underneath at either end of the splitter. This shows them but I don't know if the splitter in this pic. is OE, if it is then I am missing the grill/slats which fill the hole.
