Default 66mm wheel studs without pulling hubs

Guys,

I remember reading that somebody was able to get 66mm studs in the rear without pulling the hubs. Even with the emergency brake removed, it's looking really tight back there.

For the life of me I can't find the thread. Does anyone have experience with this? And can confirm fitment?

Thanks in advance.

Justin

It can be done, but it's a b!tch of a job. How old are the rear wheel bearings, might be worth pulling the hub.

Old. I should probably hold off and do it all at the same time. I just need to find time/someone that has one to borrow the wheel bearing tool and get it done.

In the mean time I can say that I have the special lightweight wheel studs...

I think that's the best route. Otherwise, you'll spend the afternoon frustrated and cursing.

The stock 45mm studs... Saving at least an ounce per stud. That's one pound less of unsprung weight

Not sure if you will be able to get the 66 mm studs in/out in the rear. That little hole or recess behind the ebrake shoes is just not deep enough for them to fit and be able to pull in/out. I have done this and only went up one size and was able to get them in without pulling the hub. I think the 66 mm will be too long to do that. The front provides plenty of room to work with 66 mm and not pull the hub. Hope this helps.
