Question Opinions on SSR GT3 Wheels

Does anyone have these wheels on their car and how do you like them. I am looking to change my wheels on my 993TT and was considering Kinesis, HRE, Fiske and BBS, but don't really want to spend that much. When I had my Testarossa, I upgraded the wheels on it and love the new look, but when it was time to sell it, it didn't really bring any value to the car. Please let me know what you think. Unless someone has a set of Kinesis, Fiske or HRE for sale.

Thanks

New wheels will almost always depreciate unless you get an unbelievably good deal on them. Pics of SSR GT3 on a narrowbody:

My personal favorite, Gemballa Competition:

Or, another alternative could be the factory hollow-spoke 996 turbo wheels which not only look good on the 993 but keep it all OE Porsche.

hope this helps,

What sizes are you thinking of getting?

Thanks Anir and Jeff

Jeff,
I am not sure what size I am going with probably 18", I doubt I will get 19".

Anir,
I know the wheels will depreciate, but I thought it would bring some value to the car. I ended up selling the rims separately, because the guy that bought my car was going to pay me the same thing regardless which rims were on the car. Also I bought original Ferrari wheels for the car and paid full retail from a Ferrari dealership, along with the correct spacers.

With a weird name like Anir, it's not often that I get mixed up with someone else!

Maybe I should go back to my actual birthname, "Anirban", which supposedly means "everlasting light" in Hindi. Naaahh...

AC,

Personally, I really like Fikses - both the FM-5's and FM-10's (below). Lightweight, well-made, and pretty, but pricey. However, I was seriously considering the SSR GT3's for the M3 until we sold it.

Anir,
I also like the Fiske FM10 alot, but the price for the wheels alone are about $3500, for that price I think I could get the SST with tires. Also, I like the deep dish look on the Gemballa rear wheels.

David,

Do you have pictures of the car and how much did they cost and are they 18" or 19"?

I've sent you an email with pics; not very good ones though.

They're 18x8.5/11...forgot how much they cost ($3500-4000?) but like everything else Gemballa were not cheap. I believe the lip is forged and the center cast, or vice versa.

I think the SSRs look pretty nice and better value.

I believe the center is forged and the lip is cast. BBS LM has center and lip forged.

I'm cosidering the 18" SSR. I'm a 5-spoke kinda guy. Either the SSR's (they really look nice!!!), or possible the new 996 18" 5 spoke design.

While I have Gemballas on my 993TT, and would get them again in a heartbeat, I agree with CMoss about the new 2002 996 wheels. I saw a race-prepped, dark blue 993 C2 with the 996 wheels at Summit Point two weeks ago and they looked great.
