Sorry, I disagree.

In fact, the opposite is true. 993s have been skyrocketing in value over the last year or two.

Also, another way to look at it is, a 100K car has only had about 6K miles/year. One could even argue a 18 year old car with only 100K miles is considered a relatively low mileage car.

As these cars get past 20 years, mileage takes a back seat to condition and maintenance.

One thing I know for sure, whether your car has 10K miles or 100K miles, it has gone way up in value over the past few years, not down.

And who cares about 100K. Drive the thing, and enjoy

Park it and seal it in a bubble. Let the next guy enjoy the lower mileage after you are in the ground.

Exactly! I don't understand guys that own their car for decades but are afraid to put any miles on them. Quit saving it for the next guy!! You know the saying while on your death bed: "I should have driven my Porsche less". Yeah right...

Richard should be an inspiration for everybody.

Only in America does perceived value drop significantly after 100K miles. In the rest of the world, they are driving cars with 200-300K+ miles and not looking back. These cars are just hitting their stride at 100K. It's not as if they turn into pumpkins at that mark. I just returned from 993Fest and turned 113K on the trip. The car is running like a champ, probably better than some cars that had less than half the miles in the same group. Drive it like you stole it!

For me, having a car move into the 100K realm has been motivation to take even better care of her. Drive her regularly while increasing your maintenance intervals and the scope of your work.

Change the oil more often, learn how to change the brakes, the brake fluid, work to repair any little nicks or tears in the interior, change the seals around the doors/windows, replace the lower cylinder head gaskets, change your belts, etc...

The net result will be a car with more miles, in fantastic condition.

yep, I looked back at my records and it has been "normal" maintenance, The one off things like window regulator (driver side!), alternator, Odometer, and those Damn clippy things in the sunroof! But I stick to recommended intervals and drive it!! Looking to replace the windshield soon..

Reminds me of a signature line I saw over on F-Chat:

Not putting miles on your Ferrari is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend

That's why I say drive it! It ain't gonna be the same price as a 50k model. A 100k mile 993 is at best 26-28k and that's is an S model. I would not pay that for a 100k mile car. You may ask for more but you ain't gonna get it. It's a almost 20 years old. You could pick up a 997 S for less and with less miles. No comparison! Don't know what all the hype is for an air cooled 993. 69-73 yes anything after including 996.

I so wish you still had a 993 to sell.
