Brendan:
In previous threads this color is listed as L738 Black Metallic. In Peter Morgan's "Original Porsche 911" on pp 138-139, he lists the color as Z8 Black Metallic for all 993 MY's. This is the code I think really applies (BTW Peter's codes match the codes for my car on the "Certificate Of Authenticity" I recently received from Porsche Cars NA, Inc.).
i think it is black with metallic in it. the dark grey metallic is called slate grey. <a href="http://www.ridgewaycars.co.uk/showroom/detailU115.html" target="_blank"> here </a> is a slate grey coupe
Thank you Max.
That slate grey is quite light compared to the darkness of the BTR2. I would think that black, though metalic, would be darker than even the BTR color. Hmmm.
The quest continues. Any other 993 people know this color in the above link?

As to the factory 993 metallic black paint, the code was 746. The 738 code was the black metallic used on the 964 up to MY 1992.
