How do you modify when your tail goes up and down
A 993 with the rear spoiler down is a thing of beauty.
With the spoiler up - well..........beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the rear end is bloody 'fugly' from these eyes.
Following a 991 on a rally tour I noticed the tail doesn't go up until over 120kph and comes down very quickly at 100kph.
I don't know the exact speeds, but a 993 is more like up at 50kph and and doesn't go down until the car is basically stationary.
How easy is this to modify to say 991 settings discussed above?
And is this wise - or am I halving the life of the engine??

You would need to replace your spoiler control unit (located in the passenger leg room area) with a Ruf unit. The Ruf Unit is available on Ruf home page and raises the spoiler with 120 KpH (or 110, cant remember that).
But the Ruf unit is pretty expensive, I think it was more than $350 last time I checked it.

There is a very simply wiring mod that you can do with the controller that renders the spoiler manual only and keeps it down all the time. Do a search or PM me.

Just pull out two wires from the the control unit to disable the auto operation. You still retain ability to raise it manually whenever you want. This was the first mod I did to stop the spoiler flopping up and down. The mod is fully reversible.

I wish I would have known this 15 years ago. I installed the Ruf module in 1999...it was "only" $285 back then. BTW...not sure what the KPH -vs- the MPH conversions are, but the Ruf module raises at 80 mph and lowers at 40 mph. This is easily the best mod I have on the car.
