Radio repair cost
My original radio gave up the ghost and the local P-dealer wants a small fortune to replace it with a new one since Porsche does not repair radios (any longer), so they say.
I contacted Becker in NJ and they quoted a minimum price of about $150 for repair. Ouch! Used working Becker CR-210's go for $100-$200.
Does anyone have a good referral for a reliable radio repair center that can perform the work on this Becker CR-210 unit?
Thanks kindly!

Just upgrade to the CDR220. It's got a CD player in it, controls the changer and looks great in a 993. Sound is decent, but I'm not a big stereo guy.
Got mine on ebay for $120 + $50 for modified faceplate.
No sense in fixing these things when they are so cheap to buy.

Skytop,
I don't think it's cost effective to repair an old headunit when there are SO many to choose from now that would cost marginally more and offer better sound, higher wattage, and more features. Besides, now you've got the perfect excuse to consider MP3, XM, CD changer, or other options. Enjoy this moment

I am selling mine on ebay right now literally. It came from my 96 C4s, works great and has manual and codes. You can look it up under my Ebay name porsche993c4s.
Thanks and feel free to message me with questions.

Mike: My CR-210 is an AM-FM cassette CD controller radio. I have the factory CD in the trunk.
Jeff: I checked out the Monza and it is a beauty. I tried to find a stateside supplier but could not. It is selling discounted in England for 349 pounds or stones (?????)That would work out to something around 560 US dollars. Oh, well.
Maybe a fancy radio in a new car but not now. I love my car to drive and the tunes are important but not crucial. To improve the sound would require beaucoup bucks in excess of 1G. Back in the 80's I equipped my '87 with discreet triamplified sound system with speakers/woofers all around. Been there, done that. Not to dissuade anyone, but that audio extravaganza is not important to me anymore. I'm in the P car for the thrill of the ride!
I don't want to spend close to 200 beans on a repair of radio. Hopefully, I can find a mint used CR-210. There must be some available because of the large number of upgrades owners perform.
Moving along.....
I was at my dealer today having the rotors/pads replaced (big reds). The fronts cost different prices!! The left was $185 and the right was $210. Anyone know why they price differently??? Pricey but worth it! Man, these brakes are wunderbar! Thanks for replies everyone!

349 pounds is about $400 USD.
I'm interested in getting one, but haven't done anything towards searching for a supplier in the US. If you are interested too, then I can contact Gert and see if he can get 2 for us. He may have better luck over there.

Jeff,
If you decide to go ahead with a Monza group buy (or even two or three units) through Gert, could you post a new topic on the board? I would be interested, and think many others might be as well.
Thanks, Mark.
