993 In Car Video
Here I demonstrate that in spite of a bad start, in spite of a mini-off track excursion, one can still have loads of fun. My line? Not perfect...my hand position, not ideal, the Fun Factor? Over the top!!!

What was the strategy on the straight, you looked like you held back on purpose alittle bit to 120ish and I noticed some of the curves approaching the straight you were hitting 124. Great video. Thanks for posting!

Strategy???
Survival strategy I have only watched the video once. I'll watch it again this weekend and see if I can figure out war I was thinking. Also note, this was the first time I had been on the track with revised 3rd - 6th. Shifting points on the track were a little different, but feeling the 993's torque through the gears, awesome.
Passing, if I know I can pull a competitor's car down the front straight, and the straight is coming up, I'll defer to the front straight rather than take a higher risk pass in other areas...that is, unless the opportunity is too tempting and than I'll just take advantage of it.
General strategy and it has worked: Out-qualify my 2 competitors in GT5, and wherever possible, out-qualify any and all Boxster Spec cars wherever possible, recalling, the race is usually never won in the first turn, be careful for the first lap as the lap sorts itself out.
In addition: Don't take any low percentage passes, hit my marks wherever possible......survive for the 20 to 25 minutes of Sprint Racing and get the car off the track in one piece.
Thanks for watching the video... I admit, at times it was not pretty, BUT, it was incredible fun working my way through the pack on Saturday's race. I got better starts and had better races on Sunday (2). I am gambling that it all averages out.....and that I will gain some additional racing skills as the year goes on.
And finally, thanking God, a a sprinkling of luck, to have:
1. My health and great family, and a wife who puts up with racing,
2. Owning a 993 car,
3. To have had the opportunities to develop the car since 2001
4. For living in California, where racing and driving opportunity abound
5. For world class technical support at my fingertips
6. For the Porsche Owners Club providing 10+ racing weekends a year.
Note: I am having Canyon Run Videos camera up my car again for June's races at Laguna Seca. I'll be on my best behavior and hope to demonstrate a higher level of driving skills.

Martin,
Thanks for sharing!
Having done track daze at Willow big track on two wheels, your video brought back all the fun and excitment of churning laps...
I could see your focus on safety coming out of the throttle in turns 7, 8, & 9, and the line you took going into turn 1.
Your lap times got increasingly better as you warmed up your tires; till you ran up onto all the traffic ahead.
The HUD was great in the video!

Love racing the track. Don't like traffic (unless they're really fast and I can chase them and a faster lap) was frustrating watching you get slowed down in traffic. I hate that feeling and then cringe when cars start to stack up behind you. I think it's a trust issue :-)
When I'm by myself with some space is the most fun. You'll love Mazda Raceway. Not as much space to maintain as much speed but a hell of alot of fun. You can carry alot of speed from the bottom of the corkscrew through turn 10. Thanks for sharing. Have fun

Great video. What setup are you running to capture all that data and I assume they are gopro cameras? Thanks!

great video, I liked all the angle changes and editing. We need more of this stuff in the forum.
there are too many "whats my car worth threads"
Nice save there at the dirt road by Tokyo drift
sounds like the car has some go
impressive
