But they're Zimmermans, not OEM (= not good)

You can get them from Vertex for less than $99 but I chose to get OEM's from dealer.

Who makes OEM? Brembo? I thought it was Zimmerman. If not, why are Zimmermans bad? I need to buy some soon and am open to suggestions.

Zimmerman is an OEM supplier, as is Brembo and several others.

Zimmerman's are oem, but they don't have the protective paint to keep from getting rusty. You have to mask and paint them yourself with hi temp grey paint to prevent this.

Zimmerman's are OEM supplier as Damian said but people have reported problems with them (other than rusting, they wear more quickly).

I know it's kinda weird sice they do Porsche's own disk also but maybe there are differences in quality control?

I have used them without real problems but painting the hubs is a chore- if you DE you will have to use High Temp paint and "bake" them in the oven to ensure the paint adheres properly. This smells up the whole house and can lead to much unhappiness with wife or significant other.

They are probably not as good as OEM but they have been available at Vertex for as little as $65 apiece (almost half the OEM price) so you'll have to make your own decision. Zimmermann is the OEM supplier but these are not the OEM brakes.

IMO anything available at Tweeks is available lots cheaper somewhere else.

Tweeks's prices are just laughable. I don't know how they stay in business. I guess some folks have more dollars than sense. I think Vertex has Zimmerman fronts for $89 a piece now. At that low price, I don't care if I have to replace them a little more often and I'm not gonna worry about painting them.

Paint them Rick! The sight of all that hideous rust blossoming in 3 weeks or less will be more than you can bear.

Alright George. It just so happens that I have a few weeks before the DE. So, is all I have to do it to mask the rotor and spray the hubs? Why is this so difficult? Maybe I should paint them red for a cool contrast.

Grey. Red is way too rice.

Get the high temp stuff from NAPA. It will require that you bake it otherwise it flakes off- esp. at a DE where you will get the brakes and hubs hot.

If you don't want to paint them the "real" OEM rotors are available from Rosen or Crescent City for apx. $110 each.
