Default installed 997 seats in the 993

So I got around to installing the 997 seats that I picked up in Maryland a few weeks ago. I decided to use the Brey-Krause floor pan adapters rather than cutting up the seat rails to accommodate the 997 seats. My new to me car is a 95 993 C2 NB with 95k miles. The current seats were nice but too soft for me. I was able to get a good deal on some 997 comfort seats with power.

Here are the original seats

I picked up these seats in MD. The drivers is complete with full power and the dreaded memory seat module. The passenger seat needs two power motors so I didn't install it today. I transported the 997 seats in my 993

On my way back to NY I got off 95 and stopped off at this place in Baltimore to visit the proprietor Rich Pugh But it was Sunday and Rich was spending well deserved time at home. No biggie jumped by on 95 and headed home.

I started this morning by unbolting the stock seats. I then decided to shampoo all the carpets and detail the interior. I used a bucket of hot water with some Dawn dish soap to create a very foamy solution. I first sprayed simple green as a degreaser followed by the foamy suds of the dawn solution. Using a stiff brush I worked it into the carpet vigorously. I used a small wet dry shop vac to vacuum it all up. Now that that was done I was ready to bolt in the seats.

I began the install by adapting the existing seat harness to power the 997 seats. I followed some prior RL posts. As you will see later those posts were worthless as my 997 driver's seat has a memory option which will require a more complex solution to power it. The original post says to splice into the seat harness. Use the red 12V and brown ground to connect to the 997 using a spade termial.

Once that was done I installed the Brey-Krause seat adapters that I ordered from Stable Energies. Its a very nice piece. Stainless Steel with beautiful tig welding and hardware. At $140 a piece they better be pretty.

While trying to power up the drivers seat I discovered that this wouldn't be a simple as connecting a power and ground wire. This seat has a series of harnesses and modules that will take some more investigating to properly wiring it to the 993. In the interim I ran some alligator clips to a spare 12v battery to each of the motors to position the seat to my liking. I will need to do some research in order to wire it properly. In addition I need to source two power motors for the passenger side seat before I install it. The PO had used the motors for another seat he has. So I re-installed the 993 passenger seat in the interim.

Here is the finished product. They are much sportier than the previous 993 seats.

Nice! I put 2006 Cayman seats (same as 997) with full power, heat and memory into my '95 C2. Nice seats, very comfy and love the heat in the winter. Btw, the 997 seats are taller that the stock 993 seats. DO NOT move the seat forward with the seat back flipped forward. The motor does have the power to push the (higher) seat back into the windshield with sufficient force to crack the windshield.

Hi Rob,
How did you wire the driver's seat for power and heat?

Same here. HA!

Great job on the install. I used the Brey-Krause seat adapters as well. Pricey, but they make the install so clean. I feel the seats are safely secured to the car too.

Your car is looking great! Can't wait to see the duck fully installed. Mine is at the shop being painted as well.

How did you manage the wiring with full power? For a while no one could figure out the memory versions and we were all going with the manuals. Please share!
