993 + BBS LM Appreciation Thread

SleepRM3, Thanks for the calculations! I heard that BBS doesn't recommend reverse mount, but a handful of RL members seem
to be running it that way with no problems. The center face is recessed where the bolt head sits. I can see that being a issue
when you reverse mount. Most likely the extra stress your talking about. I'll probably leave them alone. Looking at your deep
dished LMs makes me a bit jealous.

You are exactly right--the bolt holes are recessed on the wheel face, so it's clearly NOT designed to mate with the inboard side of the rim barrel--there's just not going to be a good mating between the outboard wheel center face surface and the inboard side of the rim barrel.
People who've tried reverse-mounting their LMs for aesthetics, have had wheel vibration problems because the wheel bolts don't center properly when they're reverse mounted. Nevermind that the wheel strength won't be there if you try to track the car with reverse-mounted LMs. So it's good to just leave your sweet BBS LM set up alone.
They'll give you a long service life if you maintain them.
I've had to rebuild my Fikse FM-10s at least once over the years I've had them on my car. The FM-10s are just not sturdy enough to deal with daily use over the pockmarked roads in Central Indiana.

Three Wheelin'
The first 993 I ever fell in love with was a beautiful black C4S with BBS LMs. Ever since then, I vowed that if I ever bought a 993, it would roll with LMs. The LMs are classic, timeless, iconic, and look just right (IMO) for the lines of the 993. This thread is dedicated to the BBS LM lover in all of us. Enjoy.

Holy shizzle! I started this thread in 2014 and it is still alive! So awesome! I don't have my 993 anymore (I know, shame on me) so I don't come here much, although I should come back and say hi to some old friends. I mostly hang out in the 997 GT2/GT3 sub-forum now that I have a 997.2 GT3. Happy holidays, everyone!
