I had my 97 targa smog checked about a month ago and passed. I was told to go to a star certified station, they hooked it to the computer, on the rollers and sniffer. I didn't do any maintenance work beforehand, just warmed her up for 20m on the highway. I am in San Jose, CA.

Was it the smog checks or improved emissions controls on cars? No doubt better emissions controls were needed in highly populated areas like LA. 1984 smog checks began? Emission sophisticated emission controls were just getting started.

History :

Good video there that isn't working now. In the 1940-1970's sound miserable.
