Default Moving on from the C4S

I've decided (for a myriad of complex and maybe not entirely logical reasons) to move on from my 993. The plan is to go to an older p-car with a little different character, maybe an RS backdate or something unique.

Before I put the C4S up on the sale forum, I thought I'd float the idea of a trade or trade + $ here first and see if anyone is interested in going to a newer car. I'm open to about anything that's not a cab.

Brief on my car: 33K mile 1996 Arena Red C4S. Cashmere interior. Maintenance records from 2000 on; previously serviced at Rennwerke in Elmsford NY. Car is now in Iowa (heated storage at the moment).

I'm hoping that this is a fun way to try a different Porsche and avoid the barrage of dealer calls and tire kickers that a sale ad will produce!

You seriously want to sell it? Great looking car, the epitome of the air-cooled 911s. Why?

Is the 4S your daily driver, and will this new car also be a daily driver?

No, for DD's we've got a new Audi SQ5 and a new Silverado. New car will similarly be the toy, although the Audi feels like a toy its so much fun.

Good luck with your search, OP. The hunt is half the fun sometimes. And going to an older 911 has its own rewards. I backdated G50 would be a blast to own/drive, particularly in RS or RSR trim. Keep us posted on your progress.

Busta- the backdated G50 is definitely on the list of top ideas I'm considering and would possibly take on the project if the right base car came around.... maybe the drivetrain of the poor 993 that was killed by the tree would get a new life in an older car!

This car may be sold before you'll even have a chance to compose a FS thread. GL

I went down this road.
I made a thread in the 911 forum to trade my 993 for an older targa. There are simplicities that I love about the older 911s and it's safe to say I did in fact find the perfect car for me (thanks Rudy!)

Having said that, when it came down to it. The value lost in shipping ect it just wasn't going to sit right w me to swap cars and be left holding a little money. After driving a late 911 I found it a little uninspiring and the trade off just didn't cut the mustard.

I love older 911s, and there are so many things about how the 993 is engineered that truly **** me off and frustrate the hell out of me but I can live w them for now... In a perfect world id own both but def can reasonably do that.

Sell the car and take the cash to find ur new affair, or rest easy with your 993.

You are welcome my friend , they are all fun to drive and they are all different, I will drive one of my 993's for a week and than I start missing my 964 , drive the 964 for a couple of days than start missing the 911, I say that to say that they are all fun cars

JonSnow83, would this interest you? 86 targa with 44k miles on the clock
If it does send me a Email

Heh, it's good to know that I'm not the only one with sacrilegious thoughts here. I've often lusted for a 930 or turbo look model, but never went through.
The ac on a 993 is barely adequate for Texas summers, so that's the main issue holding me back.
