Everything is done now with BTB's reinforcements. I had (on page 2 of this thread) JB welded BTB's reinforcement plates to my HiFi pockets ---- then I painted the pockets and had them reupholstered. The final result is below. Beautiful --- and they are super robust!

I also took your advice and I found that I had to re-drill the passenger side's armrest to ensure tight positioning of the map pocket to the door so that the lid cover the entire pocket from above.
I did not, however, JBWeld the existing hole in the door handle prior to drilling a new hole --- it has held well so far since it is not under tension. If the new hole lets go, I will JBWeld it as you suggest.
