Ah! Yes, I'm here.
The small pieces are for filling the small void prior to bonding the large piece to the door pocket.
These are only supplied with the standard reinforcements, the hi-fi reinforcements don't need them (no gap there).
It is mostly for aesthetics. Honestly, I'm not sure whether most people are installing them or not.
