I take my 3 yo son in the garage and tell him, "If you stay out of trouble this is all yours."

i guess you missed the one recently advertised for <60K.
It's sitting in a garage 4 miles from me now.

Current owner sold 993 T and has no regrets about the swap.
we all value things differently.

best path (IMO) is to spend $XXX$$ and build a 350HP+ Air Cooled engine that would be a bolt in swap for our cars.

Funny thing is that I bought a whole 550HP car for what it basically would take to make a reliable 350HP air cooled engine..............

And honestly, at ~320HP the yellow car WITH the short gearing (and passenger ballasted to the same weight as the 4S), you only get 3-4 MPH from exit T15-to-entry T1 at Thunderhill. Laguna is under 2 MPH.

Why would anyone sell while the prices continue to rise, even if they want to sell?

You wait until prices stop rising and level off to sell anything that appreciates

Guessing when or if they will stop appreciating is anyone's guess. I'm guessing we'll always see a slow climb in price over the years.

These cars will not stop appreciating. They are relatively rare, no longer made, and time will only make them more coveted and valuable.

True, they may not rise 25% in a year like they may have now, but these 993s will never, ever depreciate from this price point. Why would they?

Buy and hold. Last of the air-cooled; these things will be worth serious money in many years from now, I suspect.

Increasing value aside, every year that passes I own the 993 I become more attached to it. I can't see myself with out a 993 but always curious to see what else is out there I guess.

I sold apple stock when it was 75 per share because I thought it had peaked and might plummet. I cut the tags off of 40 brand new rare beany babies because I didnt know better. Between these two life changing stupidities I have decieded that at least I will keep the 993 until I am old and need to pay for my *(or wifes) nursing home!

Besides that, I will keep it only because I love looking at it and driving it which is why I bought it. Keep your 993s, they will someday be a rare and valuable (*last and best) air cooled gems.

It's like the goofball said...

the old expression "a rising tide lifts all boats" applies here. Even higher mile, dirty carfax, drivers, with paint work...are appreciating.

Nice to know that 3 1/2 years, and 35K+ miles later, my C4S is worth as much or more as I have "invested" into it.

Just feels like such a part of me, hard to believe I've had it so long. Only because every time I look at it, sit in it...and drive it, it just makes me smile.

For me, whatever I could dream up to replace it with...probably same Translucient orange as 9M Speedster #4... GT2 build, I can't afford anyway.

*Beer, and the 993...two things that keep me from taking a hostage everyday.

*not necessarily in that order

well...I used to put my G.I. Joe dolls into my Tonka trucks, fill em with fire crackers, pour gas on them...then light and roll down under the local railroad bridge.

So I got that going for me.

Bang on JD...EVERYTHING has a cycle and one day, even the coveted 993 will begin to depreciate. It may be due to demographics or the economy, but it will drop in price...and may rise again too
