Column Covers for Momo Install
#19
I have not, but it almost certainly wouldn't work because the originals are a 3 piece design - lower cover, upper cover and front cover. Even if it aligned correctly with the 964 part, the original lower is completely open in the front.

Let us know when you get the lower part

I installed the lower cover (964-552-275-03-01C) and it works very well I think. The cover does fit behind the hub adapter but it is tight. The wheel will turn but there is some rubbing, so I may sand the front edges of the wheel cutout if it doesn't loosen up quickly on its own. Otherwise, the signal cutouts all align correctly and I was able to use the six screws from the original covers to fasten everything down. The lower cover does not include the metal screw fastener clips for the two side screws but I reused the ones on the original lower cover and they fit perfectly.
I really like the way this turned out. The horn works, the airbag light doesn't due to the resistor. I also added a J West Engineering offset adapter to raise the wheel slightly in order to get a better view of the instruments. It is a quality piece and works as intended. And I was able to track down a Momo Porsche logo horn. There are less expensive knockoffs available on Ebay, but the reviews were mixed, so I paid quite a bit more for the real deal. Finally, a big thanks to Rennlister "phoneyman" for the great deal on the Momo Monte Carlo and hub adapter.

I found this thread helpful in installing my Mod07, so I'll add what I learned....
- I used 964-552-273-01-01C (upper) and 964-552-275-03-01C (lower with cruise control) as suggested above. The shrouds would not fit behind the Momo 7004 hub as I expected them to. They very nearly fit around the hub, about 1/4 of an inch above the very base of the 7004 hub. I used a Vernier caliper to measure the diameter of the hub and found that it was about one millimeter larger than the opening created by the combined upper/lower shroud. I used sandpaper to very slightly enlarge the shroud opening. Trial and error made for a perfect fit without any rubbing between the shroud and the hub. Here is a picture showing how they fit together:
The screws from my 993 shroud have a larger head diameter and therefore had to be replaced. Easy to find the appropriate size, but just worth noting. Old left, and new right:
- I had the same issue that many have reported with the horn contact 964-652-104-00 not matching the diameter of the Momo 7004 hub. Reference post #28 https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...ll-help-2.html I found that rather than trying to fiddle with bending the the "L-pad" to make it work, you can simply remove about 1/16 of brass from the inside corner. This corner rests on the inside lip of the 7004 hub preventing it from making electrical contact with the brass ring. It's difficult to see, but I've marked the part to be trimmed with a black sharpie.
"L-Pad" trimmed and installed:
- I found a 996 clockspring to harvest the connectors for the horn and airbag. 996-652-211-00 is the same as the 993 clockspring, but cost less. I was unable to find a 2.8 ohm resistor for the airbag warning circuit. I found 5.6 ohm resistors at Fry's, so I just wired them in parallel to make 2.8 ohms.
Finished project:
