Default Security system

I have a question regarding my 95 Carrera in weather it has a factory alarm. In the options breakdown it lists my car as being equipped with "M534 Theft security system ". I have only one key and there is no immobilizer like my 96 Turbo had. Just a key fob and key. The door locks are clear plastic and look like they could have a small light in them but I can't tell. They do not light up or flash.

Did all the 993's have the imobilizer / keyless entry? Could mine have been disabled or removed perhaps?

Thanks!

The immobilizer option code was either 529 or 530 depending on your location I think. 534 is for the standard car alarm system.

Ok, I guess that would make sense. I was kind of hoping it had the remote locking but not a big deal. Thanks!

If your car doesn't have it for sure, you can always add it with Tore's t-lock product

Not certain about the exact month, but we think pre-March 1995 cars did not have the cursed immobilizer.
If yours is late '94 to early '95 build date, no immob.

Heres my VIN search. Notice it has M530 "anti drive off feature" blah blah (immobilizer) and M534 "theft security system". Yours does not look to have the immobilizer and coupled with the info above, its probably safe to say you dont have it for sure.

Ok, thanks guys.

I noticed that in my VIN breakdown it lists as a 1994. Odd though as it is titled as a 1995.

I've read of a few people on here with the same thing going on. Check the sticker in the drivers door area, it should list the month and year of the build date. Something the VIN lookup doesnt show.

Yup.
Others on this board will have more accurate info, but Porsche started building 993's in late 1994.
My opinion, those are the best 993's; no SAI probs, no immob...and I have grown to like the look of the basket handle.

6/94 build here - no immobilizer. Thankfully.

6/94.....was that perhaps the first month for 993's?

I believe ROW 993s were already in production in late 1993.

Hi guys,

This topic dates a bit, but I stumbled upon it as I was looking for info about option code M534.

Please bear with my newbie questions. I have searched the forums but haven't found specific answers.

My 993 is a 07/1994 build, no immobilizer, but has M534 Theft Security System (stuttcars.com lists M534 as Alarm).

What does this option actually do ?

Also I only have two keys. No FOB. is this normal? or should my car have a FOB like this ?

If so, I guess I could buy one and program it to my car ? Would that allow remote locking/unlocking or is it to set the alarm ?

Thanks,

Ben

Ben,
you may be able to test the alarm this way: Roll a window down, then close and lock the door. Next reach in and open the door. Does the alarm go off?
