Hi all,

I've just about got all my ducks in a row for suspension and lowering but I'd like to get some feedback from you all, especially those who drive their lowered 993 daily.

I can't decide between sport RoW height (30mm drop from what I've gathered), or splitting the difference between that and RS height, say maybe a 40mm drop from stock (almost exactly 1.5").

I've got 17" cups and it's my daily commuter over mostly freeways and generally good roads, though my driveway has a bit of a dip on entry. I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences at your personal ride height (please remember to state what that is), or if any of you regret having dropped it "too" low for what's practical ...yes, I need to consider mall parking and various driveways and the like. Thanks in advance, all!

Woud you consider a front protection bar, such as the one Gert sells? That might be an alternative to having to 'clear' everything

My car may be a little lower than RS and I have no problem clearing driveways or speedbumps. I drive it almost everyday. I do not encounter any steep driveways though.

I drive my 993 daily. Vancouver roads are sometimes pretty rough, especially the ones close to my house.

I am not quite sure exactly what height I am at compared to ROW but its about 25" measured at the rear wheel. Its likely a tad higher than I would like from a looks perspective but I don't scrape very often. I approach driveways diagonally if I can. Normal roads are not a problem. Parking lots are fine.

The bar does help, but since I have RS Splitter I find the splitters rub ofter before the bar can catch it because they stick out so much. I figure I can always get them refinished once in a while since are easy to remove...and they are fiberglass so they won't rust.

We have some guys in the Porsche club who have really low cars...but they don't drive every day. They don't seem to be any faster than me on the track (;-)) but their cars look pretty cool that low.

Definitely get the bar anyways, it helps!

I have a daily driver (100/day) which I have lowered significantly and even with a steep driveway (go in at an angle and have the front drivers wheel of the ground!) do not regret it at all. As soon as the gallery opens up you can get a look at body height and PSS9 spring settings if these are what you are going to use.

I am perfectly happy with my PSS-9, RS ride height car. Gert's bar takes the hits on my steepish driveway which I take at a 45 degree angle; it only scrapes a little bit and is no big deal now that I know the bar is grinding and not the paint on the nose. With the car this low, driving involves remembering to be careful on anything that looks like it might hit the underside of the car, but the car looks perfect and handles well.

For my driveway, filling the small dip at the transition with pea gravel smoothed everything out, too.

On super-bumpy roads (the roads in Baltimore can be nasty) and treacherous railroad tracks, I've never bottomed out but I also approach these obstacles with a slowish speed and caution. If I were you, I would go with an RS ride height and a Gert bar. If you're really smacking the road more than you like, raise it up.

Mine is lowered about 1.25". FPB is essential. No scrapes on bumpy roads, or when taking my driveway at an angle, but I have to do slow manoeuvers in some public driveways. Daily driver, but not a commuter, and no track. On balance, the occasional driveway precaution is well worth the smiles of handling benefits in the twisties.

Mine is at RS height, no significant issues only I take driveways and speed bumps from an angle for just in case... Gert's bar is a must!
You always need to be carefull but not to the extreme. I think the ROW height would serve you well and it looks good too.

Thanks for all the replies! In all the things I've been considering about the suspension, I forgot about Gert's FPB...duh! I appreciate the feedback. I've always liked the looks of the RS height, but perhaps am still a bit paranoid about smacking something with all the "regular" street driving I do. But since those with the RS height haven't experience any real problems, maybe I'll just split the difference between RoW and RS. Anyone care to post some pics...please ...I've been trying to Search over the past few days but it doesn't seem to hit on anything prior to the Board Facelift. Thanks in advance, all!!!

Your car is beautiful.. Love what you have done with it. But all of your pictures are with rain on the car. Does it ever stop raining in Housotn so you can snap a photo in the dry? Would love to see them with the top down too...

Here is my car at 25". I need to reshoot because its dark but it gets the general idea overall. Hardly every scrapes. BTW, this is the lowest you can go and still use two locking rings on the bottom of the back PSS-9 struts. If I go lower I have to take the back struts out and remove the rings...and re-corner balance and realign. Not likely to happen this year!

My car is at RS +10mm all around, and I find it clear all but the steepest driveways...I have bottomed the front and exhaust tips twice in the past 2 weeks though, so you gotta know it's gonna happen w a daily driver no matter how careful you try to be (IMHO)

Here's me with H&R's and Bilstein's sittin at or below RS spec. I've got no front protection bar yet but as said before, doubt it would catch anything the RS splitters already have. I've got 18" wheels running Bridgestone S03's. I drive the car every day about 74 miles round trip with some highway, some city, some back roads, and a fairly steep driveway entrance. No scrapes yet, no back pain, just great handling and looks.
