Not talking mods. Just repair work, new tires and all done at various indie's since I do no work myself. This year is going to be VERY expensive. Just got a list of stuff that needs attention from my "new" indie and it's almost $6k plus the new turbo twist wheel I just bought for $350 that should arrive on Thursday. Hate to see what the rest of the year will cost me. Hopefully it will be moderate.

How about you? I had hoped for an average over 10 years of $3k a year for repair work on this car. It's cost more I think on average for the 10 years I've owned it but has been worth it.

Never use the word "totaled" in the same sentence as "my 993". Don't do that again man !

Tires, shmires...that's a consumable expense and it doesn't count.
Heck, I bought 12 new tires last year for my 2 E30s and my wife Cabrio.

In that case my repair expenses were only $1131 if you take the tires and mounting and balancing out of the mix. Sweet.

About $700. Oil, plugs, caps, rotors, all filters, etc. Also includes wevo blacks as stock MMs are shot to hell. But only have had my car since June.

I expect that I will need a clutch and top end in the next 5 years so I am saving up

Worth it!

Compare that against the depreciation on a new car and you come out ok!

I went over $5K this year, but I did LWF, clutch,brakes, rotors, golden rod, brake lines, brake fluid belts, belt sensor, spoiler wall, clutch hose, DME, oil, oil filter and AC evaporator. That includes labor, so I got off cheap for everything I did this year.

Got some great deals on parts and car is set for several years now, should just be oil and tires for a while.

My average maintenance costs for 7 years of ownership is $2142/ year.

I do not include performance mods in that calculation, so in the above, I did not count the golden rod as maintenance, the rest were necessary.

For about the first 5 years and 90K miles of my bought new 993 ownership, I added everything including depreciation, taxes and insurance.

About $1.20 per mile.

Then I threw the spread sheet out. It was spoiling my fun.

Last year, $1750 (Tires, FSD shocks, installation and alignment). Prior year, $6800 (complete going over and replacing whats needed). Hoping I'm set for this year.

Firsts year was expensive enough taking care of the things that needed taking care of......

Probably close to $4k with PPI's, Tires, Front brake rotors and pads, Distributors and Rotors, Various gaskets, gear oil flush as well as Tores HID's, new head unit and speakers and dumping the cassette holder for a cup holder and replacing some of the old cracked trim pieces for new soon to crack trim pieces.

Hopefully next year will be slightly cheaper but then again there's always the suspension which will have to be taken care of sooner or later.

Between all that and the cost of the car as well as travel to retrieve it from SoCal and bring it back to NC it has meant a fair old chunk of money but no regrets.

Smart man. You never total until you sell and show to prospective buyer. Wanna really squirm? Total up expenses (non mod) on running a Cup Car for 6 PCA Club races..... I just pay the bills and hide the receipts in a folder.
